This 80's band seems to be one of my guilty pleasures. I think their songs stand the test of time, does anyone else like them?

Was bombarded with them in nightclubs in my late teens. Nearly drove me to the brink of insanity.
I will admit to liking a few 80s songs- but only in the closet (I would lose my friends if I ever conceded to them what I just did to you!).
I for one really like the album "the seeds of love", the intro to Badmans's song is so f***ing great !!
Except Sundays, that's Ed day.
The mind is like a parachute, it doesn't work unless it's open. FZ

Nice Cover!
Declan: "Will you do me a huge favor? Will you check in on Curt and make sure he isn't throwing a bender? 'Cause I think he and that dude from Crowded House... I think they're plotting something."
But their songs do take me back in time when I only cared about running around and swimming and didn't have a care in the world.

Oh yeah, been one of my favorite shows since it first came on. Shawn mentions Tears For Fears quite a bit over the course of the series. Of course there's the episode where he and Gus sing "Shout" on the American Idol type show.

I would have thought that fan club fans of a band like PJ would have very little time or appreciation for a band like this. Bands such as Tears, Duran Duran, Culture Club, Hall and Oates, etc. were very tough to take back in the 80s. Created much friction at parties when the rockers wanted Zeppelin, Rush, Stones, Who, etc. and the disco people wanted the lame music.
The rockers seemed to transition to PJ, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains... while the disco people transitioned to techno stuff.
I'm not trying to knock anyone- I have a playlist of closet 80 songs that I would never admit to liking to my friends (Jessie's Girl, the Outfield, to name a few). I just can't believe that a legitimate appreciation thread can sprawl within the contents of PJ's website!
Have I been duped? Is this more of a joke or is this legit?
Songs from the Big Chair is classic as is Sowing.
Their later albums became more pop oriented(Sowing) and then Roland went the electronica pop route. The albums Elemental and Raoul.... are solid. I would suggest also checking out the 'Tomcats Screaming Outside' album as well. Pretty good effort that was completely overlooked because it had the unfortunate luck to be released on 9/11.
All that I once held as true
I stand alone without beliefs
The only truth I know is you.
As for Tears for Fears they did some great songs that will stand the test of time. Last year we saw Muse at Wembley Stadium and one of the support acts was lame with a capital "L". For their last song they did "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" and the crowd loved it. I think it saved the bands day.
My fave by them

No you haven't been duped and no it's not a joke and it's a shame you have songs you won't admit to liking. There are all sorts of tastes on here, visit the "rate the song above" thread to see what I mean. I think if i sat and listened to one narrow stream of music I'd die of boredom.

Fair enough. Still not a Tears For Fears fan, but I get what you're saying. Remember, I wasn't judging here... I was sincerely surprised! Good on all of you.
