Tickets for sold out shows

Excuse me for being naive, but why do tickets for "sold out" shows come back on sale at a later date?

Just noticed that fairly decent seats for Manchester 1 have gone on sale via Ticketmaster.

I feel sorry for those who panic on the first day of sale and end up with nose bleed seats!!
  • Concerts are never officially "Sold Out"...venues always release tickets closer to the day of the show, they are either seats that sponsors or the promoter/band couldn't use...or possibly season ticket holders who have released their seats for sale.

Its utter bullshit. Much better seats than what I have are now available. And as per Ticketmasters policy, they won't exchange or transfer tickets.

Gonna have to rely on a tout to see if I can trade and pay a bit extra to get better tickets.

Still annoyed over this whole fiasco.

As much as I understand the frustration, with what's been going on lately I think any ticket is better than no ticket.

Course it is. I'd rather be going than not. But I'd also rather be sitting a little closer and not have to keep wiping the blood from my nose!

Unfortunately this happens all the time and there's many reasons for it as listed above. Other reasons are they might have changed the production i.e. realised they don't quite need as much space as they thought and so released tickets in other sections or opened up behind the stage. It's also true about shows never being really sold out when they say they are as tickets are often drip fed even up to the day of the show. I travelled without tickets to most of PJ's 00 tour to so-called sold out shows but got there early and scored tickets on the day. However sometimes they are totally sold out and you can't get a ticket for love nor money.
    My PJ shows:
