Borrowed from the thread in AET with the same name from Shimmy. I think the topic begs to be debated here.

I haven't seen the doc. yet, but am looking forward to it. It's about how the media depicts women.

Pretty soon we will need a documentary on how sitcoms represent men.
That can be true, some women support the exploitation of women sometime unknowingly... but have you even checked out the link above?
yeah ... i watched the whole thing ... which is what my response was based on ... the fact that they target men specifically i think is misguided and absolves women altogether in the outcomes ...
i think its unfair to say some women support exploitation unknowingly ... how can you say that!?? ... that's essentially saying everyone woman lacks the empowerment to decide things on their own ...
look - i am believe of the social injustices that have been carried out against women, minorities, whites, gays, short people, fat people, etc ... but, we are all complicit in one way or another ... sure, some people are more complicit than others but rarely are you going to find any group completely absolved of blame ...
Some women do support exploitation of themselves! If you want me to take away the "unknowingly" part, then I'll do that, but some do. I agree with your last paragraph but let's stick with the media here, since that's what the topic is about.
yeah ... i think the comment around 1:25 was what irked me ... definitely, the media is a problem although i think it's functional of the larger problem which is that corporations are free to make profit any which way they see fit ...
And that's the bottom line; we're not seen as humans anymore, only consumers. A marketer's and seller's wet dream.
