A McHenry County sheriff’s sergeant has been charged with forcing a juvenile to perform a sexual act on him on several occasions from 2006 to 2010, Michael Combs, chief of the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s criminal division, said today.

Gregory M. Pyle, 36, a 10-year veteran of the force and its Internet sex crimes computer specialist, was charged Saturday with 10 counts of predatory criminal sexual assault, officials said.

The alleged victim is related to Pyle, said Monique Bond, spokeswoman for the Illinois State Police.

Pyle was relieved of his police powers and placed on administrative leave Friday after the allegations were reported to the sheriff's office. An investigation by McHenry County officials and state police ensued, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.

Pyle surrendered to state police investigators on Saturday and was released from the McHenry County jail early Sunday after posting 10 percent of his $200,000 bond.

Pyle’s next court date is scheduled for Jan. 27, according to the sheriff’s office.
