Wasn't Slash once quoted as saying he would rather play with Axl then have to put up with Scott again, maybe GnR will reunite for the Rock n Roll Hall Fame thing which I hope happens as well.

Velvet Revolver flatters Scott Weiland and the other member's talent as much as Audioslave did with RATM and Chris Cornell. Two great vocalists in two shitty tribute cock rock bands! I never will understand the attraction of either?

Man, I think Contraband is a pretty amazing hard rock album. Easily the best thing all members involved have done outside their main bands. Not sure if I've ever seen a more energetic performance by any band, and tight as you can ask for.

Libertad is alright in some parts, but they tried to put too much of an STP vibe into it and it just didn't work with the personnel. These guys need more edge.

Pretty well the same story with Audioslave...The first album is great, the 2nd ok but not much staying power, with the last being totally forgettable.

Contraband is definately a pretty good album, if it was a new band with unheard of musicians I'd hold it in higher regard but for the musicians involved it always felt like a big step backwards for me. Same with Audioslave, killer riffs but a lot of it was pretty unoriginal, Cochise owes everything to Jimmy Page and some of the songs made Cornell sound quite like David Coverdale. I didn't buy anything after that album but when you put 3 members of RATM with Cornell the expectations are always going to be very high. I think VR are a great live band but Audioslave live was a weak period for Cornell, his voice sounded pretty shafted until the last few years. I guess he probably stopped smoking?

Contraband is a great album. It's not exactly very deep or anything like that, but the riffs are there and it's got some of that early Guns N' Roses fire. But I have to agree Libertad was a bit on the meh side (and with the STP vibe comment...funny how when Scott got back to STP, they had none of that vibe themselves). I think they kind of ran their course though. It's been almost five years since Libertad and Scott's departure, and that kind of time off for a supergroup (and a lot of other bands) is killer. They should probably change their name and THEN find a new singer, because the Velvet Revolver name has too much connection to being a "supergroup", and that's not really there if Scott isn't.
    Thanks EPOTTSIII!

  • Damn, wish they would do a few shows. VR is awesome in concert, saw them twice on their '07 tour.
