So, this is what happens when you trim Matt Cameron's trees

Okay, so here's an awesome story that is absolute PROOF that Matt Cameron is just an awesome dude and, along with Mike McCready, the band member I'd most like to sit and share a pint with. Unfortunately, I'm passing this story along 2nd-hand, well, 3rd-hand really...but it's still awesome.
My brother, who lives in Seattle's U District with a couple roommates. One of his roommates is an amazing drummer, and also works full-time as a tree trimmer. Well, last night when he got home from work, he had an incredible story to tell. It just so happens that he was hired to trim Matt Cameron's trees yesterday afternoon. Well, Matt was home and my brother's roommate recognized him and engaged him in conversation, told him that he was an inspiration and how he'd spent a lot of time drumming to Matt Cameron beats while he was growing up, learning drums, etc. Matt asked him, "So, you're pretty good?"...and he (my brother's roommate) replied jokingly, "yeah, I'm a pretty big deal"...lol. Matt proceeds to invite him into his house where there's an enormous wall full of drum kits. Matt says "I'd love to hear you play, grab a kit"...my brother's roommate sits down at a kit and says, "I don't know, man...I'm kind of nervous". Matt says, "That's okay, I'll jam with you". Matt grabs a set of sticks and sits down and PLAYS DRUMS WITH HIM. He got to fucking rock out on drums with Matt FUCKING Cameron! How incredible is THAT?!!!
I wish I had more details...like I said, my brother literally called me last night 10 seconds after his roommate had got done telling him about his incredible day...so I've relayed the story exactly as it was told to me...I"m sure it would be a WAY better story coming directly from the source, but I don't think he's really a huge PJ fanatic, and surely doesn't spend time on the messageboard.
It's just great to hear that these guys are down-to-earth dudes. All the time, money, and energy I've pumped into supporting/enjoying this band over the years wouldn't mean near as much if they were all a bunch of cocksuckers...so it's just great to hear stories like these.

"...I changed by not changing at all..."
Maybe not...but can you blame him, really? There's a HUGE difference between being Eddie and being any one of those other 4 guys, and we all know it.
mc seems like a really nice dude!
...knowing me I would have said "so, here's how solat is supposed to be played..."

Not so sure these days. Met them 2 yrs ago and mike and ed were very chatty. Stone put his head down and didnt stop. Like the rest of us i guess it depends on the mood of the day

Agree that it depends on their moods, and I'm sure whatever vibe they feel from the other person and where they are. I wouldn't expect Ed to have a full blown conversation with me in the middle of NYC, but maybe if there wasn't a crowd around. A friend of a friend sent Ed a few beers when he saw Ed in a hotel restaurant. This is also 3rd hand, but as Ed was leaving, he stopped by to thank my friend's friend and proceeded to sit down for an hour and had a regular conversation with the guy.
Butthead: It means that his friends are like turds and that they like suck.
Beavis: Heh heh. Oh yeah. Yeah! Get those spoons out of my face before I shove them up your butt!
Butthead: Huh huh.
I don't know, when they played New Orleans in 2010 Ed was out and about that night talking to some folks. People were even bypassing Michael Stipe and Tim Robbins who were with him and he was nice as could be. He even hugged my brother's friend who manages one of the venues where we were watching the Meters jam.
Great story about Matt.
I never got to jam with Matt, but I did help him load his van and hung out after a Wellwater gig in 2001. Took my profile pic at the same time.

Think you're wrong there. From what I've heard Eddie is pretty cool to fans (and anyone else for that matter). I've heard nothing but good about him in response to fans and others. Really cool about jamming w Matt C, some people have all the luck!
I have a chain saw, will travel!
Was that at "The Boston" in Vegas? That was the shortest show I'd ever been to.
