Those trees and leaves and clouds up above
so cliche, but true anyway!

I miss you
like the perfume I bought to wear for you
and the soft blouse I wore only once
I truly believed it could all be for me!

Not like a deathbed regret,
or a bad memory,
I miss you like a car that ran forever even as all the parts wore out
one by one, but never replaced
parked with a cover in the garage

I miss you like some constant company on my mind
and like so many passionate songs and phrases
or like the best daily exercises for a pianist

I miss you like the unfinished book I left on a plane that time
or like the tears I shed while flying home.
I miss you like that

Those beautiful mountains of hopes and dreams and vague floating carpet visions
so far away but always holding my hand too
