Tedeschi & Trucks Band

Saw them last night and they absolutely tore the fucking roof off the place! Such a tight band. 11 band members who each work their asses off and get an opportunity to shine throughout the set (2 guitarists-T&T, bass, 2 drummers, 3 horns, 2 backup vocals, & keys). I highly suggest seeing them if they play anywhere near you. The show was easily top 3 of the year for me. And the opener, The Lee Boys were also very, very good. Their slide guitarist played out of his mind. Go see this band!

All I have to do is revel in the everyday....then do it again tomorrow

They say every sin is deadly but I believe they may be wrong...I'm guilty of all seven and I don't feel too bad at all

Saw them in London in the summer, great show. The album is excellent, can only imagine how good it sounds on vinyl.

I had to go home after the show and get some sleep but my wife got to hang out with them after the show. They were celebrating Derek's brother's bday. Here's a pic

  • Derek is the best guitar player on the planet right now.
Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. Here's a song by a fellow freak - E.V

Without a doubt the best guitar player going today. I've seen him several times with the ABB, his own band, and this past fall with the TTB. Their album ''Revelator'' is excellent and I've heard a live album may be out in 2012. He is also the nicest and most humble person you'll meet. His wife Susan is the same way.

He plays more like a sax player than a guitarist sometimes. He approaches his solos like a sax player. In one interview he said that he went a long time just listening to horn players, no guitarists. I got into Coltrane because of Derek. Coltrane is one of his biggest influences and the DTB has covered Coltrane's Naima, Mr. PC, and plays My Favorite Things, Afro Blue, and Greensleeves in the Coltrane style.

His live version of My Favourite Things is one of the best things I've ever witnessed. There was a few at the show around me who clearly hadn't heard it before, was amazing watching their reactions when they realised what it was. I do hope he will tour with his band again. Though another TTB album would be amazing, I'd imagine both he and Susan will have much they want to work on.

I hadn't heard anything from Derek Trucks until I saw this performance and it really blew me away almost to the point of giving up guitar... I am slowly checking out more and more of his music.

Nice choice veddertown. ''Midnight In Harlem'' is my favorite song off Revelator. It's one of the prettiest songs I've heard in recent years. Derek's solo at the end, whether its the studio version or live, is amazing and has made me tear up and given me chills.

Derek with The Brothers on ''Desdemona''. One of the best solos I've ever heard. Nice ''My Favorite Things'' quote thrown in.

I was searching for a Tedeschi Trucks thread, and lo and behold!

Caught them for the 5th time last night; they opened for the Black Crowes. Every time I see them I am more and more impressed. New album coming out in a few weeks and it's one I just can't wait for. Derek is such an amazing musician, and Susan has the most beautiful voice. Throw in an entire horn section, and an additional handful of super-tight musicians all on the same stage.. I love them! Anybody else catch them on this tour?

Been a fan of Derek and Susan(individually) for almost 20 years now. When they came together with this project I was blown away at the possibilities.
Their new cd is really fantastic. Motown is not dead!
