Sent Messages vs Outbox (technoob)

Total technological/noob question that I hate myself for asking. I've been sending some PM's and they are registering in my Outbox, but not my Sent messages. Does that mean they have not actually been sent?

    they go to sent messages once they have been read, it's actually useful because you know when yo'r messages have been read
    I don't mean to offend anyone, a lot of what I say should be taken with a grain of salt... that said for most of you I'm a stranger on a computer on the other side of the world, don't give me that sort of power!

    Ah! Thanks... I'm glad I didn't listen to my instincts telling me to keep sending until they went into the Sent section.
