ukulele needed

Was up late last weekend drinking and stumbled across a really great sounding uke. I stayed up till 5 am playing Longing to Belong and had a blast playing it. The problem is I was wasted that night and don't remember the type of instrument I played. What I did realize was that I REALLY liked playing it and that it sounded great. The UKE I own is basically a child's toy and sucks. I want to buy one but I am wondering how much they cost (I'm sure there is a huge range). Right now I could spend up to $300 but for a more substantial investment I would need to save up and wait (which is fine too). Bottom line is I want a nice sounding instrument that isn't a piece of shit...I don't need a top of the line UKE. Just something that will last and sound good. Any recommendations?

lanikai, mele, kala, ohana, mainland, all have great entry-level ukes for about half of your 300. it's best if you can try before you buy as with any acoustic anything, so if you got a music store anywhere nearby try a bunch of different ukes of all sizes and shapes and find one that appeals to your ear and feels good as well.
