I know this is 'old' news, but I was pleasantly surprised to see this story also made the British press in December. (Though it's a shame a journalist working for a national newspaper couldn't quite manage to spell Eddie's name right ;) ........ no in-depth research needed, Google would suffice :) )

What a great story though, this band is amazing :D

    Rockers' tribute to late teen
The Sun, Wed 28th Dec 11

BIG-hearted rockers Pearl Jam have made a festive gesture to the family of a dying fan they presented an autographed guitar to 19 years ago.
The band heard the instrument they handed the late Josh Hardy as a 17-year-old brain cancer victim was stolen from brother Ben's house.
Police recovered it - but the autographs had been scrubbed off. So band members Eddy Vedder, Mike McCready, Jeff Ament, Stone Gossard and Matt Cameron sent the family another signed guitar for Christmas.
Ben, 34, of Burlington, Vermont, US, said: "Pearl Jam said in a note they'd been following the story. It's an amazing gesture of goodwill."
Mum Donna Hardy, said: "It's a blessing for our family. To think they remembered Josh after all these years is incredible."
