I 2nd that.. Indie stores, used record shops, even pawn shops.. I got a new one last year for Christmas, but before that the turntable I was using came from craigslist.com... Bought it off a guy for $20.. It needs a new belt, otherwise it works and sounds just as good as the new one.. You get a nice broken in turntable that has solid construction that you can upgrade and it'll go far.
    I ain't got no fly'n shoes..

  • You can usually find a good deal on Craigslist. If you don't know if it's worth the price just Google the brand/model and you should be able to find plenty of reviews.

Used: craigslist, E-bay Retail: Depending on where your located. Here in the North East I would try Sam Ash and Guitar Center. Both of them run a few big sales at different times of the year. Just join their mailing list to find out when. Hell, last time I was in Guitar Center they had a limited edition gold plated Technics 1200 deck on sale from $800.00 something down to $400.00 and change. Not my thing but it looked cool and shiny... :D The point is you can find deals every once in awhile. If you allready have some music on vinyl, you mind as well bite the bullet. You won't regret it.. ;)

Most of these suggestions are okay, but if you really want to find a turntable, find a place where you live that works on and fixes high end stereo equipment and ask them, this is the best place to look. I have had good luck doing this a couple of times I was told that what I was looking for they didn't have, then I would look around and say what about this? The guy would say it doesn't work, then I would say sell it to me anyway and I will pay you to fix it, since that what you do, then he says, HEY I didn't think of that.

You see most of these places that work on have stuff that has been laying around their shop for years.

Damn...missed that sale...I would've jumped on that in a second! Regular ones are hovering around $600 w/some places going over $1000! Can't believe they stopped production on those. Had mine since 1987. A F'n TANK!
