Membership Options-Totally Confused

My Dad and I are both 10C members, generally around this time of year as part of his Christmas present I renew his membership when renewing mine. When I renewed last year the Digital/Analog difference wasn't implemented yet.

I renewed my own a couple weeks ago, and I selected Analog, and received the "I'm Analog" t-shirt I've seen people wearing. Was hoping to get whatever the new design was, but whatever, guess I have one of the last of the old.

However, today when taking care of my Dad's I see Analog memberships for the US and Int'l as well as big "Analog 2012" memberships. What's the difference there and does anyone have any guidance? The 2012 one says "Analog Membership Renewal", technically he's never been Analog, so should I just purchase the regular Analog membership as the 2012 version is the way to differentiate people who were Analog last year to ensure they don't get the same shirt twice?

When do your memberships expire? You can only renew around when your membership expires. For instance If your membership expires in December(since you said you just paid yours) you will get the 2011 shirt because you haven't paid for 2012 yet and won't until next December.

You can't pay in advance anymore

Correct. He needs the regular 2011 Analog membership now(and will receive the shirt we already have) and then December next year he will renew and get the 2012 shirt. December is a crappy renew month because you have to wait until the end of the year to get the new shirt.

In some ways December is the best renew month. You've got eleven months to decide whether or not that year's t-shirt design is worth spending the extra money on, whereas people in January are just hoping for the best.
