10 Club should take the Phish Ticketing System route

Phish doesn't have a fan club, but they do have a lottery system to pre-order tickets. Why not do what they do, but only allow it for fan club members. Have everyone put in for the lottery and then they select randomly who gets the tickets. They could also make the tickets have the cool designs like Phish. On that note bring on YEMSG!

    Love the Phish ticketing.

Ten Club would do well to mimic it.
  • There's got to be a way online like the old postcard system to get each fan club member one pair of tix per tour.

Guessing you did not read Kelly Curtis's responses in the forum?

    I read it.

Don't know how having European fans makes any difference.

Just re-read the thread. It is clear Kelly has no idea what he is talking about with the Phish system. His flippant response does not address what the issue would be. (postage?)

The postcard system would be a god damn joke if they went back to it. This is 2011 (almost 2012), you're telling me that a band of this size with all resources it has can't incorporate and successfully run a ticket system for a tour's sale on line? come on.

Whether it was sabotage or not, I have no doubt that they've been looking very closely as to how this was working. Hopefully they've diagnosed the problem and here will be changes made for the next tour. Staggered sale times, pick one first and wait 24 hours before you can pick more, etc...mailing postcards would be a real hot mess. It's devolution baby!

my brother uses the phish lottery for multiple shows every time they tour. if he is lucky, he gets tickets for one show through it, and the seats are always bad. He says the pearl jam system is much better. I agree.

Well again I think you are missing something.

There is no seniority for Phish and I'm not certain how hard Phish works to get the 'best seats in the house'.

If Pearl Jam had the same allotment as they always do then nothing would change for Ten Club members.

Except the nightmare of F5ing for hours on end.

They have not been able to since as far back as 2006.

    I see your point.

I've always scored online, but it is a frustrating process. Mail in would be stress free for fans.

Now I don't actually think they go this route, but Kelly said they were seriously considering it.

Must have some merit if other bands use it and Ten Club is considering it.

I didn't mean copy it exactly, but just semi mimick it. You could still have seniority and what not. Ten club would get the same tickets and seats would be based on seniority.

how hard would an online lottery be?

have the tickets be available in goods for a few days, giving everyone a fair shot at throwing their name in the hat, then divvy the tickets out at random.

i also wouldn't be against going back to the 'one show per tour' rule either, to keep things fair.
i'm more a fan of popular bands.. like the bee-gees, pearl jam

Certainly going back to index cards is getting pretty archaic, but they could do an email system that mimics the index card system and doesn't bog down servers.

Basically...here is a list of shows...using the email address that 10c has on file, email with the show you request in the title and the body of your email has your name, address, 10c number and CC info (or the CC info can get ironed out at a later date)...you have a window of time to send your email, then 10c sends out confirmation emails.
It'll be more work on their end to sort through the emails and get the ticket purchases entered, but no servers crashing or being sabotaged.
And if they have to limit to one or two shows to make this viable, they could go back to that and then hold a subsequent sale if any 10c tix for some cities don't go claimed and people want to go for multiple available dates.

Having gotten shut out of 1 PJ pre-sale, and SEVERAL Phish lottery pre-sales...don't even TRY convincing me that Phish has it all figured out compared to PJ.

10C have done the lottery thing for a few gigs. Some people like it, some hate it. There will always be those that are OK with things and those that moan - whichever route they choose.

Phish's system is open to everyone though. If PJ did it it would be for 10c only.

The Phish system is probably the best and most fair way to do this going forward.
