Favorite PJ memory from 2011?

  • Seeing Unthought Known as the opener here in Chile is kind of obvious, that's why I'll go with watching PJ20 at a completely crowded cinema, with my girlfriend (kinda new to PJ, and not necessarily the biggest fan) laughing along with all the people there and being amused by the movie. That's priceless to me.

    I can only pick one?

    Between

Ed Solo (night 2)-FOURTH ROW (last minute box office sales) which was my first Ed show

    and

Alpine/Alpine pre-party/Alpine tailgate-meeting some of the wonderful crazies from this board

    and

FRONT ROW EDMONTON and Mike shoving his pick in my hand after his solo

I just simply cannot pick one...each has their own 'special-ness'...but those are the highlights from this year.

    It's been an awesome year...

Hello Edmonton first row friend, you forgot drinking Ed's wine and the and of the show ;)

argh! yes Niko! drinking Ed's wine...my friend who was at the Vancouver show, won 2nd row lottery...she got 7 picks, but is more jealous of me getting wine!

Phenomenal thread. Amazed at the limited number of repeats:

    After 8/10 Canadian shows...

All of Toronto 9/11... especially "Chloe Dancer/Crown of Thorns." It closely beat out Edmonton 9/23 "Wash." Both firsts.

And all the new friends met.

Watching the PJ20 "webcast" via Gary's phone on Justin.tv has to be the best memory and the worst, because I was so pissed I couldn't get off from work to make the trek. It did ease the pain a bit though. :D

Now if they would just release the box set we KNOW is coming...

Release PJ20 Night 1....the adventure trying to get tickets, the anticipation for that weekend, the huge line at the 10c ticket pickup on friday, the rain throughout Saturday, when PJ finally went on stage it was perfect and something i'll remember always.

    what he just said. :D

Yeah....Release Night 1 PJ20 I had tears coming down too. Had an awesome time in the parking lot in the rain all day with friends and then the second I heard Release start to play...well...it was one of those moments.

Being at Alpine Valley on September 3, 2011, to see Pearl Jam play live for the first time...hearing the first notes of the first song, beginning to hear the excitement building under the sounds of Eddie Vedder's voice..."Ohhhhh"..."Ohhhhh"...

"I see the world/Feel the chill"...beginning to feel the chills...just incredible! Never imagined it to be as it was!!

Been trying to fit in twenty years of Pearl Jam into each twenty-four hours of my life ever since.

Sitting very close near the front of Eddie Vedder during his solo shows in Perth, and experiencing that whole show. Amazing! Also, seeing and hearing Alive at the end of Pearl Jam Twenty when we saw it in the movie theater... I felt so happy and emotional...great moment!

So, so many. Nearly impossible to pick one.

Musically: "It's Okay" from Alpine. Being part of the crowd, enraptured and singing along.

For overall experience, though _ the best memory of all was walking down the corridor at the Comfort Inn Suites, knocking on the door and knowing I was about to finally meet RKCNDY and afroannnie, and that together, we were going to finally see all of our unmet friends together at the Wishlist preparty and the tailgates.

Never forget taking a deep breath, and knocking on that door.

Making friends with the kid working the entrance behind the stage at Alpine on Day 1 by saying, after a few drinks, "hey man we're all human beings- you gotta do what you need to do!" and assumed the position, so that on day 2 he wouldn't check my bags and we could sneak in some liquid to keep us warm. Really nice people working that entrance.

In all seriousness, Alpine was amazing, and Release and It's Okay still give me chills.

Seeing EV solo show in Detroit....rolling to Alpine Valley with my brother.....Piggly Wiggly....hanging out at the Hackers Hut on Friday night listening to sound checks.....walking out and seeing the stage for the first time at Alpine....Release...Wash....partying until 5 in the morning in front of the Alpine Valley Resort hotel with some CRAZY people :D .....splitting a Faithfull Ale with my brother one night after work.
That is just off the top of my head. I could go on and on.
    WHAT A GREAT YEAR!!!!!
  • Getting to see PJ do "It's Ok" for the 1st time @ PJ20
  • EV in Hartford....slowly converting family and friends to PJholics....last year I took my son to XL center, this year took my bro to EV (who incidentally gave me his copy of Ten cassette back in beginning).
