Senri Kawaguchi (14 yr. old drummer from Japan)

Senri Kawaguchi is a young drummer I've been watching for the last year or so, who at 14 years old, is just incredible to watch. She's been playing drums since the age of 5 and even though she has several years of formal instruction, it's clear she has a natural talent. Here's a recent clip of her playing.

Also, on a side note, the guitarist in this performance plays with his hand over top of the fretboard, rather than from underneath - something I've seen guitarists do in bits during solos or for "flash", but never really as their primary method of playing.

    She's from Japan - not CHINA! :lol:

    I lived in Japan for several years - while they definitely stress the importance of education and development of one's talents and abilities in their culture, they don't force their children into performing or competing in the way China does.

    The first clip I posted is with a jazz ensemble where she is definitely concentrating on her performance. Here's another clip where you can clearly see that she loves what she's doing:
