-Mitt Romney

Enjoyed his performance last night and his comments on our economy. Sure is refreshing to hear his optimism as a success in the private sector. This is especially true since our current president has never had a private sector job last time I checked. At least, nothing of any significance.
Restore America!

    I was hoping that you would endorse Newt next, so he could go away.

    MITT ROMNEY: This is a president who fundamentally believes that this next century is a post-American century. Perhaps it's going to be the Chinese century. He's wrong. It has to be the American century.
    America has to lead the free world.
    And the free world has to lead the entire world. The right course under President -- Obama's plans is to shrink our military, thinking somehow if we appease or accommodate the tyrants of the world, that the world will be safer. He's wrong.

    like i said in several other threads, it is easy to run for president, just make up a bunch of jibberish about the other guy and repeat it ad nauseum all while backtracking on your own record, flip flopping, and actually offering absolutely no ideas for how to fix things...

    mitt better hope he doesn't win, then he would actually have to come up with some ideas and try to do something...

    Pretty sure mitt has some ideas and can do some things, he is a successful business man after all.

    You are describing our current president to a T though. :lol:

    The view from the high road is very nice.

    back on topic:

    Republican elder statesman and former Senate leader Bob Dole on Sunday endorsed Mitt Romney to be the Republican presidential nominee, a day after the former Massachusetts governor received the backing of Iowa's main newspaper.
    "A number of my friends are currently candidates seeking the GOP nomination. But the time has now come for us to decide who among them can defeat Barack Obama in 2012. I've made my decision, and I believe our best hope lies in Governor Mitt Romney," Dole wrote.

    "As President, Mitt Romney will succeed in turning this country around," he wrote. "He rescued a flailing Winter Olympics when it was mired in financial scandal. He was an exceptional Governor of Massachusetts, who managed to both balance the state's budget and cut taxes while dealing with an overwhelmingly Democratic state legislature."

    it is funny to me to watch the gop candidates throwing each other under the bus this early on...

    looks like the gingrich honeymoon is over and they are beginning to support romney, the only man who has a legitimate chance at defeating obama. as long as he keeps his mouth shut and stops betting people large amounts of money...

    they said he is mulling over it again.

    it would be my american dream if he ran and everything he ever did that was of questionable morals and ethics got exposed and his empire crumbled around him. god knows there is enough there that he can't keep it all a secret. we can dream can't we?

    Romney =“opportunity society”
    Obama= “entitlement society”

    Chris Christie (who supports Romney) says he wishes Romney was "a little edgier and a little bolder."
    He says if former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is the presidential nominee, people will focus on Gingrich's record and not Obama's. Calling Gingrich "uncompromising and incendiary" and said Obama is someone "still searching around in a dark room trying to find the light switch of leadership."

    BERLIN, N.H. – Former President George H.W. Bush revealed today he is supporting Mitt Romney in his bid for the presidency, potentially adding further momentum to the former Massachusetts governor’s campaign.

    “I think Romney is the best choice for us,” the former President Bush told the Houston Chronicle. “I like [Texas Governor Rick] Perry, but he doesn’t seem to be going anywhere; he’s not surging forward.”

    On Romney, he was effusive.

    “He’s a fine person,” he said. “I just think he’s mature and reasonable – not a bomb-thrower.”

    Romney, on a bus tour across New Hampshire today, spoke with the former president.

    “I’m very encouraged by the support of President Bush,” Romney told reporters in Berlin before knocking on doors. “As you can tell there’s growing momentum for this effort, here in New Hampshire and across the country.

    “I must admit this is much more important to me personally than even politically,” Romney added.

    Of former House speaker Newt Gingrich, Bush said, “I’m not his biggest advocate.”

    He needs all the practice he can get. He is embarrassingly terrible at golf. I feel bad that people can see how bad he is at it.

    p.s. I know I just served up a fastball right down the middle so save the replace "golf" with "being president" jokes, etc.

    None taken. I appreciate the reasoned debate you have provided!

    Woot!

    In other news. Romney said he probably wouldn't release his tax returns if nominated. Makes sense to me. All the haters would focus on the percent paid (as a result of cap gains instead of ordinary income) and probably not even think about AMOUNT paid.

    Mitt has no problem changing his tune if he thinks he can win voters. Coming from MA, I know.

    MA healthcare, that he helped institute, is essentially a macro version of Obamacare that he so defiantly rallies against. But now that he wants to oppose Obama he is oh-so-against Obamacare. Funny how that happens.

    And it's just so rough living in a state where the economy is better than most other states, and most citizens have healthcare. Seems to be working just fine here. Thanks, Mitt!
