In the last 10 minutes...

I posted two thoughts. And you know what, I think they have some merit.
I'll copy them here:
1. To me, I think it would be in musicians best interest to have some sort of 3rd party that would be soley responsible for obtaining a fair amount of fan club tickets and selling them to each fan club. A fair percentage based on size of fan club and popularity. This entity could work directly with ticketmaster/livenation for each show/venue and they (ticketmaster/Livenation) could handle the sales internally...
2. Yep... I appreciate the users that have shown some restraint and tried to give 10c some credit, as they say 'it is not thier fault', but all I can think of late is... Yeah it IS thier fault. Dont plan a small tour and give 2 days notice. Dont expect fans to take days off work to try to get fucked. Dont try some new fangled thingie in hope that it will be better than the 10c servers. Go with a proven method. I for one had never heard of CrowdSurge, but I havent heard of alot, so that point is mute. Dont release ALL the tix to the general public. Simple as that. System broke... postpone public onsale and fix yer fuckin problem, then sale the rest. How Fuckin hard was that to think up? Contractual maybe? Provide exception clause PRIOR to contract with public vendors.

Plan the tour and give enough advance notice. More than 2 days for presale tix.
Offer a small, determined amount in the TICKETS section of the GOODs. Maybe 100 tickets. When the site melts down in 2 seconds, shut down the site and let fans know that tickets are gone via THIS VERY FORUM. Announce an additional 100 tix a day later. Sort of Lather, Rinse, Repeat. Just use this FORUM to announce site is down/tickets are gone/pending in carts. Communicate. Rinse. Repeat.
These shows are 6 months away. Surely you could provide 21 days to clear the alloment of 10c tix, no?
idea #1. why would we want another entity to get a cut, which would just drive the price up higher, when it is unnecessary? There is no "obtaining" of tickets to be done anyway. Ticketmaster has strict rules on the amount of tickets that fan clubs are allowed to have. Pearl Jam manages to negotiate more from time to time themselves.
#2. They have no way to change the public onsale time at the last minute. Crowdsure is a reputable company. Something got screwed up.
#3. I don't think having the board crash every day for 3 weeks is a good idea
#1. I hate the idea of any additional fees, or increase in price BUT, I would rather pay it to a proper company than to a douchebag scalper.
#2. And why the hell not?
#3. Crashes seem to be inevitable here. Why not embrace them? No merit on the "communicate" idea?
agreed. never use scalpers. i've been to probably close to 200 concerts, never used a scalper. ther are always tickets available.
i'm pretty sure tenclub can't say, "ya know that public sale we announced that starts tomorrow? yeah, we're gonna have to cancel that." there is way too much that goes into it
at times it seems the communication could be better. overall, i think they do communicate when there is something to say. I'm not sure why people expect responses to every question and/or updates every 15 minutes when there is an issue. a "hey, shit is still fucked up" update is pretty useless IMHO.

This is not accurate.
The company I work at has season tickets and we are always notified of acts playing at that venue. On many occasions pre-sale and public onsale dates have changed with one or two days notice.
ok, i will say i've done this. i meant i've never paid over face value.
yes, there may be occasions where it happens. i just don't think a fan club is going to get it changed was my point.
I dont have the answers, far from it. I was just wondering out loud while typing
So scalpers are only bad if they make some money??? They are no different to me than people on here that sell their vinyl, posters and other things on Ebay for WAY over "face value" should people in the Lost Dogs section of the forum only sell their items for what they paid for them or for what people are willing to pay for them? And I am not a scalper or ticket broker, just curious as.

i didn't say scalpers are evil (even though I think they are). i just said i would never pay over face value. mostly cause its fucking stupid and no matter the show, you can get a ticket for face or less if you try to. that was my only point.
