Hey, maybe this should go in 'technical stuff' or something but.

My membership lapsed in November and I wanna renew but am waiting on a little cash as it ain't cheap nowadays. However, I might not bother this year if I'm gonna miss the cut off for the annual/holiday/Xmas single as that is a pretty important part of the package to me and I don't wanna spend $50 on a t-shirt and Deep. Can anyone advise me on what date you have to have a valid membership on in order to be eligable for the single?

Thanks, T

Regardless of when you renew/sign up, you'll get a holiday single. It's just a matter of whether or not you get the 2011 or 2012 single (which is confusing when the 2010 single just made it out a month or two ago). But you (should) get a Christmas single regardless of when you renew/sign up.

I just wasn't sure as I am currently lapsed and in my grace period, so I couldn't take part in the pre-sale for tickets as membership had to be valid on Dec 12th. I was just guessing that the holiday single works in a similar way that member with a valid membership on a certain date get a single. I would think that is actually the case as they probably don't just add all members to a list before shipping if someone renewed after a certain date. I am kind of imagining that I'll have to renew before the end of this year to get it, rather than waiting till February when my grace period ends.

However, if the cut off date was, for example, last week, I probably wouldn't bother renewing until next Dec when I have a little more cash (hopefully)

It helps to think of it as a bundle. For every year of membership you are guaranteed a xmas single. Renewing now would guarantee you a 2011 single (whenever it came out). I say this as someone who has a November expiration date. Your year which ended recently in theory got you the 2010 single. I would imagine as long as you renew before it's sent out, your new one would get you the 2011 single. However, if you wait till after the 2011 single is long gone, you'd probably end up having the 2012 single being the one you get for your year of membership. The way things have gone lately, you probably have till next summer to still get in in time for the 2011 single.

I hope this makes a grain of sense. I apologize if it does not.
  • I had same question because my membership expired in November. I emailed 10c and they responded that I needed 2 renew before the end of the year.
  • "Basically as long as you renew within your grace period, you will be eligible for the 2011 Benefits."

From 10C (I hope they don't mind me passing that info on here). Good news if, like me, you are in the grey area. My grace period ends in Feb but as long as I do it before then I should get it. December is not a good time to be forking out extra cash!

    I ain't got no fly'n shoes..

  • Your membership needs to be paid and in good standing by late December if you want to get the next single.

You can call them and ask if you'd like.

Well, I dunno, I e-mailed them and put the date my membership expired and explained my querry and they said that as long as I renew it by expiry in February, I'll get the single. I think the answer was pretty cut and dry.

Yeah, I think there's a difference between signing up fresh (obviously you'd have to sign up as a new member before the end of the year) and renewing a lapsed membership within grace period. Especially since they probably won't have sent out the vinyl by Feb, you'll be sweet. Even if they did send it out, I'm sure they'd send you yours once you renewed because that renewal covers the period from November 2011 to November 2012 which includes the 2011 Christmas single.

I think they send it out in January each year.... the postal service just takes nine months to deliver it ;)

I expire mid December and renew in January a lot, and received no singles those years. Definitely the last two and a couple of times before.

Oh. Whilst I appreciate RM22 said the same thing, the fact that you are speaking from personal experience does make me wonder what is right. I guess I'l just have to wait until February, renew and see what happens. I definitely won't be able to afford it now, so I will jsut find out :)

That's my point pretty much. If you are a member and renew in good standing you will get the single. If you don't and sign up after the end of December 2011 you won't get one. My point is don't let it lapse.

On the other hand, if you believe this board, lots of people are current members and never get the singles. I'm sure if jamburger had emailed them, 10C wouldv'e sent him out his single.
