overall it was pretty bleak compared to most recent years for me, but i certainly saw some great shows.
trust me, these alone are not bleak

haha. i know, but i always see a ton of jacket shows when they tour, so this was a given.

also, i was referring more to the amount of shows i made it to. not really the quality. the quality was superb.

I gotcha. Seeing them at Red Rocks must had been incredible. One of these days I'll make it out there for a show

    1/8 Weezer
4/4 Queens of the Stone Age
    9/3 PJ20
    9/4 PJ20

    12/31 Cage The Elephant

Any year I get to see PJ twice is a good one.

The Cage show last night was great, but lord the sound was god awful. The Aragon usually is pretty bad, but last night was a new low.

I love the Aragon for sentimental reasons. Most of the time, the sound is at least palatable! This was outrageously bad.

looks like you had a pretty sweet vacation here in the states. nice!
  • Lifted: I did, thanks. Having previously been up and down the East Coast, with multiple visits to New York and Boston over the years, and having been from San Fran through the south and mid-West in 2003, it was great to finally spend a week going nuts in LA and another week in Seattle; 2 places left I always wanted to visit. I was thorough in my sightseeing for both of them. Partied a lot, drove a lot, saw a lot, DIDN'T sleep a lot: the perfect vacation then. The shows got me there, but they weren't even the highlight!
    My Pearl Jam shows: 1 in 1995, 2 in 1998, 20 in 2003, 13 in 2006, 3 in 2007, 8 in 2008, 5 in 2009, 4 in 2010, 5 in 2012. EV: 8 in 2011, 1 in 2012. Brad: 1 in 1998, 1 in 2002.

Nice, I saw him several years ago.
  • I had an excellent 2011 concert year!

16 January: The Soul Of Motown (III), RAI, Amsterdam
5 February: Me & Stupid, Ekko, Utrecht
5 March: Dazzled Kid, Hedon, Zwolle
19 March: Dazzled Kid, Rotown, Rotterdam
30 March: U2, Estadio Unico, La Plata
2 April: U2, Estadio Unico, La Plata
3 April: U2, Estadio Unico, La Plata
9 April: U2, Estádio do Morumbi, Sao Paulo
10 April: U2, Estádio do Morumbi, Sao Paulo
13 April: U2, Estádio do Morumbi, Sao Paulo
3 June: Emmylou Harris, Carré, Amsterdam
9 July: North Sea Jazz festival, Ahoy, Rotterdam (with a night concert by Prince! Absolutely brilliant!)
20 July: U2, New Meadowlands Stadium, New York
30 July: U2, Magnetic Hill, Moncton
8 August: The Jayhawks, Paradiso, Amsterdam
19 - 21 August: Lowlands festival, Biddinghuizen (Highlights include Elbow, dEUS and Tiger Love, plus the Hardrock Karaoke in the Tïtty Twïster)
10 September: Bettie Serveert, Paradiso, Amsterdam
    6 October: Roosbeef, Tivoli, Utrecht
13 October: Dazzled Kid, Tivoli, Utrecht
15 October: Beans & Fatback, De Kom, Nieuwegein
    5 November: Houses, Ekko, Utrecht
10 November: Elvis Costello, Melkweg, Amsterdam
14 November: Elbow, Heineken Music Hall, Amsterdam
    23 November: dEUS, Vredenburg, Utrecht
24 November: dEUS, Off Corso, Rotterdam
    18 December: Coldplay, Ahoy, Rotterdam

As a huge U2 fan, my favourite non-U2 concert was Prince in the night of 9th to 10th of July (he started at 2:00). He's a genius of course, but the setlist featured songs I really wanted him to play (starting with Joy In Repetition, playing Bambi) even if I didn't know some of those songs yet.
Favourite U2 concert was the 3rd of April one in La Plata (Argentina III to be short). What an audience!

And 2012 is already looking good with 2 Pearl Jam shows! :D (plus Gavin Friday, The Jayhawks again, Elvis Costello again, this time with his spectacular spinning songbook)

  • Mine was amazing. I saw PJ play at Alpine Valley to start the tour and in Vancouver for the end of the North American Tour. I flew to LA to see RATM and Muse. I saw Tom Morello play in the Crocodile Cafe with a crowd of about 100. I almost forgot that I saw Eddie play twice at Benorya Hall and the last show of my 2011 was Jay-z and Kanye. Looking back I had a great year of shows.
