What is your computer doing (or not doing)? Give a description of your problem. I know that there are a lot of us out here that may be able to help your recover your files depending on the severity of your issue.

I think what Dan's trying to say is...
"What do you need, sir?"

Thanks i will check it out
Hey man thanks i have some stuff on cds but not all ill have to sort thru it all first then ill hit you up. Thanks
For future reference, if you have stuff you need on a hard drive DON'T FORMAT IT. You can always get it off. No offense, but your brother isn't a very good computer geek! He should have bought an HDD caddy to hook that drive up to first, so you could have offloaded your important data onto another computer first.
Glad to help. Whenever you something just let me know.
i would consider getting a second or third hard drive, and syncing all your music to them. personally i have my OS on one hard drive with regular data, and a seperate internal 500GB drive for all my music.
from here, I use Allway Sync to sync my important files form my c:\ drive and my music files on my 500GB internal drive to 2 different external drives. The sync I setup only syncs in one direction and by this i mean you can only sync files and music from my internal drives to my 2 external backup drives and that is by design. The one-way sync is important becuase you only want to do work (file editing, addition of new files, songs, shows or whatever) on the internal drives and have the changes be propegated from there to the external drives. This way, if something fails, i have everything backed up in 2 places and everything is consistant. One of the external drives is portable (gets power from USB) and if i really wanted to be anal, i should have that stored offsite at my parents or something in case of disaster.
I've spent years and years and countless hours building my collection and am not having any part of a technical failure and loss of my collection. i know this is a bit extreme but if i lost my entire collection i'd go postal. literally i can't even tell you how upset i'd be.
You could also setup a few extra hard drives and setup RAID if your motherboard supports it, or get a RAID controller if you know what you are doing. this would automate things some, but is wat more technical.
