Reasonable question about PJ boots.

This no doubt has been discussed before and I would like to know before ordering any 2011 shows (I got Hamilton mp3 with my d/l code and it sounds awesome btw) are the cd's the same cd/r's we've been getting since 2008? I absolutely love getting new boots like anyone here and now that Brett Eliason is back at the helm I'm quite excited about it but I hate those cd/r's. I'm not an itunes user and use WMP to rip and sync but half of the boots since 2009 aren't recognized and sometimes the artwork comes up with the 2000 or 2003 boots. Some have actually come up with a completely different artist? I don't really enjoy editing the titles before I can transfer and it's never been a problem with the 2000-03 boots. I really don't see why the discs have to be cd/r's when we are paying the same price we did when PJ started this bootlegs. I think the price would be fair for proper cd's and since the downloads are only a file without packaging why are the FLAC's so expensive? I think the price variation would make more sense if it were mp3 at say $7.99, FLAC $9.99 and CD $14.99.

Yeah, I don't think it's the quality of the actual disc that determines the info in your media player. I believe there is an option that lets you submit your info to a database so the next person who put that disc in their computer will get your info (and will probably be pleased).

I think the reason the 2000's and 03's worked fine were because they were released commercially and the info had already been submitted to said database before you had a chance to rip them.

Of course, I could be talking out of my ass.

Maybe I'll try that Ed? WMP isn't the greatest but PJ cd/r's are the only ones where I have a problem. The discs rip ok but it's the tracklists are sometimes completely wrong and going to the find album info option doesn't come up with the correct match so you have to input everything manually and I don't do manually!!

If you are indeed correct I wish I wasn't such a retard about technology! It just doesn't interest me. I still think real cd's aren't too much to ask for? :?

Yes those labels are to do with the media player you are ripping it with, not what's burned on the CD. All it is doing is querying the media player's database of CD info, try Winamp. If no luck then I guess it's the CDs, I don't really own too many of them so have never tried, but if you get no luck I can try with some 2000 shows I've got to double check.

I don't know how CD's are manufactured, but I'm guessing the reason CD-R's are used is that the CD's are burned as they are ordered, and 10,000 aren't pressed at one time like the 2000 and 2003 boots. I think the price not changing incorporates the ability to order the CD and have it burned and shipped that day (thanks Kufala!) and allows us to be able to order older boots three years later instead of having to search for them as they are out of print.

Also, we don't really know what the price of currents boots would be if they still used the 2000 and 2003 method. It could be $20 per boot.

For sure. There are lots of companies like Kufala that do press a bunch and don't use a "Made to order" system. I've bought boots for shows I've been to from other places and they're typically $24.99 I'm happy with PJ's model...
