The moons resources and mirrors in space

Sounds like somethtig worth taking advantage of right?

Might come in handy on our rock right?
An estimated 13,000 terawatts of solar energy hit the moon, and once a base has been established, power plants can be built that harness the energy and send it back to Earth

I mean, if we can colonize the moon and get some good shit from it, cool right?

The Outer Space Treaty (OST) was signed and ratified by the US, making it binding federal law under the Supremacy Clause, and it states that the moon is community property and not the exclusive property of any particular nation. Under the treaty, any benefits derived from outer space or the moon are to be reaped by all nations

Also, what about using mirrors in space to provide light at night for our roads (like the light from a full moon at night)

Just throwing that out there. I heard these were some ideas NEWT was throwing around. Nice to hear someone thinking there were options other than taking away peoples assets and redistributing them. I like to think big picture myself, so any constructive ideas would be appreciated. At the end of the day, We are all in this together.

Woot!

Leave the Moon alone, seriously, we should not touch it anymore.

Remember when we bombed the Moon? I was pretty sad that day. What excuse did we use? "it's fine, the Moon get's hit with space junk all the time"

Next, will we be digging so deep down into the Moon we crack it in half?

NASA's mission to bomb the Moon

NASA will tomorrow launch a spectacular mission to bomb the Moon. Their LCROSS mission will blast off from Cape Canaveral, Florida, carrying a missile that will blast a hole in the lunar surface at twice the speed of a bullet. The missile, a Centaur rocket, will be steered by a shepherding spacecraft that will guide it towards its target - a crater close to the Moon's south pole. Scientists expect the blast to be so powerful that a huge plume of debris will be ejected.

Sounds like a Great Idea! if only the government would stop slashing Nasa'a budget and giving that money to the military, it might even be possible. Oh well.

Why don't we just harness the 274 gigawatts of solar energy that rains down on the earth every year?

Right and we need to be investing more money into the technology, and we would have that money if we were not fighting all these wars and using it for giant Military spending.

Also I'd like to see a stronger push into Hydrogen and the cleaner production of it via solar and wind rather than hydrocarbons.

Did Newt think no one would notice this? Can you say psychopath?

Go to 2:50. It's worth it, trust me. The moon stuff starts at about 4:30, though.

It'd be nice if we figured out how to make things ok on our own little corner of the universe here before fucking up the rest of outer space any more than we already have.
