This is asking a lot, but can anyone help out with translating some of what Ed says? I only wanna know what he said during both Lisbon shows, Paris, Verona, and Milan.

I'm not asking for word-perfect translations, but a basic idea of what he's saying. I'm usless at this stuff.

thanks for any help!

Lisbon II show. Paraphrasing some of what he said and in no particular order: Ed thanked teh Portuguese people for being faithful fan and givng them a reason to come to portugal. he said that while he was surfing he was thinking about being in Portugal again and how the audience (everyone sang every word) was like like a big wave and how great it was to surf twice in one day. Later he sang an improv (to the chant of Portugal, Portugal...) about surfing twice a day... Later he said how cool it was that they had a day off the next day and were really happy to be in Portugal.

He talked about Boom's ancesters from Hawaii being decendents of one of the original Portuguese navigators/settlers to discover Hawaii. and how proud he was of his heritage.

He thanked the Portuguese people (and named a few) for the cavalquinha (ukelele) he wa given and how it was giong in his office in Seattle.

He commentented on some Portuguese surfers that won a championship the prior weekend and mentioned some old friends (I think the surfers he met in 2000).

He was very chatty - thankful, respectful of the Portuguese - it was a hell of a show - the audience pretty much sang the whole concert. at the end he said they were "fucking Great"... all in Portuguese, of course.

Thanks for that! It was great being there, just a pain not knowing what the hell he was talking about! But gotta give him love for touring around Europe and speaking the languages!

My German kinda sucks, but what I DID understand while seeing them in Berlin, was that Ed thanked the crowd and said they had played that venue before, but not on a sunny evening/night (the weather was very good!). He also said that the Germans might have been even better singers than the Italians, and that Come back was dedicated to J Ramone, and we had to sing it loud, so it would be sent up to heaven. Or something to that effect.
Maybe some native can help me out here for more?

If you look at the fanviews for Verona and Milano there are translations of the key points of Eddies' speeches in Italian. I know I posted some of them! :)

Hi, lets see if I can help :)

You're mostly right. What he says in the beginning is very nice - like you said '...played here before but never on such a beautiful evening...' - and then "Thank you that you have been coming to our shows over the years and listened to us." He says "..und uns zugehört habt..." Which means listening to what someone has to say...

The J. Ramone thing was right. He said that the world has lost a legend and he a very good friend...He and JR talked a lot about Germany and the JR liked it here. So he sings the next song into heaven and hopes that he can hear it.

"I say this because I (we) mean it... Ich liebe euch" :)
