Anyone ever make this and preserved them?

Made them a number of times but to use more or less straight away. I would like to make some for Christmas presents but I'm not too sure if they can just be preserved/canned like plain ol' figs in syrup (ie in sterilised jars, covered with the syrup). If they can be preserved, how long do they keep?

Anybody here know? Not having much luck googling this!
