Im 27, suffering my whole life.
It takes time, money, strength to manage and work through it.
I did photo therapy for 2 years and held me over for 3.5 years basically but this has been a tough tough transition into winter.

Anyone else?

I had it when I was younger.

Don't bathe too much, drink lots of water and take your fish oil pills.

My skin still gets pretty dry. Lots of itching the colder it gets.

  • I feel ya... I, too, am an eczema sufferer and winter time is ALWAYS a pain (I live in Wisconsin). Suffice it to say, I don't go anywhere without my triamcinolone cream and a bottle of unscented lotion (unless I want my skin to start resembling that of Freddie Krueger). And just thinking of Bath & Body Works makes me start to itch....

But no matter how much I stay on top of it with the creams and various therapies, there is always a patch or two that pop up. My favorite new find is Aveeno Active Naturals Eczema therapy. It's the best non-prescription I've found for eczema lotions (the tradition ones like Eucerin had little effect on me), and I am constantly applying it. Give it a try--maybe it will help alleviate some of the pain and itchiness.

I hope it gets better for you :)

    I get it!
  • ive got the triamcinalone too- also just got Tobradex for around my eyes- two little tubes cost me $189, AFTER insurance deductions- good grief!

I saw a doctor in NYC who has his own line of shower stuff for sensitive skin- its called JUVA and its milk based and has made a huge difference in the itchiness on my neck. Still have trouble with the arms and ears...

I should move somewhere warm all year round to avoid this.

Im thankful my girlfriend is so understanding and patient with it.

My sister has that, she's your age too and it doesn't bother her too much now, but I remember it being bad for her when she was younger. Just today I had to fill out some paperwork and did a personal medical inventory, and I discovered that I'm F'd up! I'm a 31yr old male and have; Asthma, Depression, Anxiety, High Blood Pressure/Hypertension, Early Onset Diabetes, Fibromialgia (Chronic Pain), Osteoporosis (Low Bone Density), Cluster Headaches, Gastroparesis, Irritable Bowl Syndrome, Fatty Liver, Acid Reflux and to make it ever better, I have an ingrown toe nail right now! ...it blows! But I try not to complain, I've gotten used to things over the years and I know other people are way worse off! Except, I just lost my job and health ins, so things might get worse. Ugh! ...I don't have Eczema though.

This. Good days and bad days, but with the cold weather here, the bad days are winning.

I've read that if I give up coffee and beer, it would help. I haven't tried yet.

+ I hope you never have to make that choice-
    yikes!
    Coffee + beer basically book-end my day-to-day going's-on,
with a bit of pop thrown in between
to satisfy both the caffeine jag
    + the carbonation obsession.
Anyways, I was just drawn in by the thread title-
    I have dry, Canadian-winter skin,
    but nothing unmanageable.
Best of luck to all who have
a real issue to contend with.
    Cheers.

  • Look into Hemp Seed Oil for Eczema and Psoriasis. It gets rave reviews for topical application as well as eating the kind that's safe to eat.

i kinda have it (not too bad) on my face. Went to a dermatologists who prescribed some stuff. Worked ok, but stopped taking it cuz costing too much money to go back to the doctor.

No, but I have psoriasis and it sucks pretty bad at times...like right now! :(
  • Yeh, I have it.... never had it until I moved to England :? and now it seems to be permanently on one arm. Some days it just drives me nuts but I've kinda gotten used to it  took a bit of getting used to. And doctors are so useless over here too... she didnt even touch me, said 'it's eczema' and then 'anything else?'. She didn't give me any information at all and I had to ask about creams. I liked the aveeno stuff for a while but it seems to have stopped working now. I reckon it must be something to do with the water. Might also have something to do with the fact that I'm now living in houses with carpet... most of the places I lived in Ireland had floorboards.
