Pearl Jam or Stones Roses?

Before you jump on me for asking a silly question, hear me out...

I have a ticket to the Stone Roses come back show in Manchester on June 29th next year. I live in Belgium and as you all know by now, PJ play here on the same day.

I have seen PJ 7 times, I have never seen the Stone Roses.

After PJ, the Roses have been one of the biggest musical influences in my life.

PJ are the best live, having seen Ian Brown many times I think the Roses will be, at best, good. Its more of a sentimental thing.

My wife and I have just had a baby (1 week ago. She's called Lotte Pearl Jarrey :D ), my wife has already said she won't want to come to PJ (she has seen them 4 times with me). My best friend and I have the Roses tickets, he is the biggest Roses fan I know.

So, you see my dilemma.

One thing I thought about was going to Berlin the week after, problem is, I have no one to go with! Well, I do but no one who is a real PJ fan.

There is also another spanner in the works. My mate, who I am going to the Roses with, well, he and his lady are expecting a baby on June 29th!! Its very early days yet but he may not even be able to go now (much to his annoyance!).

Oh god, i dont know what to do!!

I don't want to tell my mate I am not coming as it will piss him off. BUT he may not be able to go, but won't know this for months!

Arrrgghh!!! :(

  • I have the same problem. I may need to skip Pearl Jam playing my own country to see Radiohead in Berlin (which I already got tickets for)...

Tough tough choice. Love the Roses too, wanted to see them back in Manchester but couldn't afford tickets. My wife absolutely loves them and if I'd had the money we'd be going. Now she'll be coming PJ with me.

If your friend's lady has the baby a few days before the 29th will he still be going the gig? I would base a decision on this. Is he 100% he can go the gig? If not, then choose PJ. If he thinks he can definitely go the gig, choose Stone Roses. Because in all likihood next summer is the only chance this generation will get to see the Stone Roses. Pearl Jam ain't stopping any time soon!

Sounds like you can't go wrong with either decision and you'll have fun at both no matter what. Just make a decision and don't second guess and make the best of it.

Something to consider: Werchter is a festival right? I think Stone Roses might have the edge here, then

And oh, about going to the concert by yourself? Don't even worry about it. A lot of people will be flying solo. You just make friends there.

Cheers guys..... I just can't let a friend down. Thats the most important thing.

I also will see PJ on this tour, somehow.... I just want to get it sorted. Looks like I may have to be patient, something I am not good at.

I am thinking about buying TenC tickets to Berlin, it's a days drive from here... could be done :D

  • Go to Stone Roses. You never know when they'll tour again!

Pearl jam is my all time favorite but if they were playing the same time as another band that has meant a ton to me such as the Stone Roses do to you I'd see them:). You can't go wrong either way.
