Sometime today take a moment and remember what took place 70 yrs ago today in Honolulu, Hawaii. Over 2400 Americans lost their lives at Pearl Harbor. 70 yrs ago right now those 2400 were still alive. They had no idea what was about to happen to them in the early AM. Some were still sleeping in their bunks when the bombs dropped. Those that lived threw it and who lost many friends never forgot and neither should we. May we never forget December 7th 1941. May all those brave men and woman rest in peace.

Agreed. A lot of my friends complain about taking history classes and say, "What's the point? It's in the past." I've always loved history class and love history. I've hardly learned about those two days, so I've had to do outside reading about them.

Like I said in the Pearl Harbor thread in AMT, my father served in the Solomon Islands during WWII. He's 91 years old. That generation is almost gone and with it, their first hand experiences. When I was a kid the last person to have met Abraham Lincoln was still alive. Time moves on so quickly.

Now if we could both honor the dead in wars past and find another way besides all the killing to settle disputes we might one day be a civilized creature after all.

On December 31 of this year, the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association will dissolve due to the health and age of the remaining survivors. There are only 2700 members left and they are in their late 80s and early 90s.

World War II veterans are dying at the rate of about 1200 per day. Be sure to take the time to honor them while you can.

    Right on Flagg!!!

And if you know somebody that served during WWII thank them and shake their hand. Tell them how grateful you are for what they are their generation did. They lite up and smile when younger people do that. It's so important we let them know and that us younger people remember. Cause very soon they will all be gone. :(

I thank your father for his service. God bless them all.

War is wrong but these men stepped up and did something so amazing for this country. We must not forget that.
