PJ 20 Soundtrack Japan CD?

Best Buy lists the PJ 20 vinyl for $79.98 (I don't know about their availability though).

But they also have this "Twenty Soundtrack (Japan)(Mlps)-CD" for $74.99.

Now, they have the regular soundtrack on CD for $19.99.

So, why would this CD from Japan be so much more expensive? Simply because it's from Japan, or what? I'm just wondering if perhaps there's any track listing difference?

Does anyone have any info. on this item? I know PJ has played some dates over the years in Japan (I even bought a bootleg DVD while visiting Tokyo of a show in Japan in '03, the Budokan I think.)

There has to be a bunch of Japanese PJ fans out there, especially with their gigs there. Wonder if we have many Japanese friends who frequent the boards? But, any and all know anything?

Yes, It is so expensive because it comes from Japan.

    Cause it's a SHM-CD.

    http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/popular_format ... index.html

The high quality SHM-CD (Super High Material CD) format features enhanced audio quality through the use of a special polycarbonate plastic. Using a process developed by JVC and Universal Music Japan discovered through the joint companies' research into LCD display manufacturing, SHM-CDs feature improved transparency on the data side of the disc, allowing for more accurate reading of CD data by the CD player laser head. SHM-CD format CDs are fully compatible with standard CD players.

    Also it's Japanese. :)
  • OK, wow. $55 more worth of CD-quality sound? (minus the importing obv)

Can anyone attest to the sound quality of these CDs? (Assuming they've hit the market in any capacity)

I've compared SHM's to regular CD's on a very high end stereo system and honestly couldn't tell one from the other. It's a record label marketing gimmick to try and extract a few more dollars out of some unsuspecting fans if you ask me. Universal Music=
