When the vinyl came out, I was so jealous of my turntable-owning friends... spent countless hours at a "friend's" house with other friends sitting around listening to Vitalogy on vinyl until the CD came out...
...and then I came to find out I couldn't get it on CD because my sister wanted to get it for me for a Christmas gift.
At least when the CD came out, I could hang out with other friends who I actually wanted to hang out with and listen to it. Most anticipated Christmas gift of that year.

This album moved me from the moment "Last Exit" started up for the first time.
My love for it has only gotten stronger.
I can listen to that album and nothing else for weeks at a time. It's an amazing, beautiful piece of work.
I feel the same way... I couldn't venture a guess as to how many times I've listen to Vitalogy over the years.
Sometimes I have to save it up a little and then it become totally fresh again.
It's awesomeness always surprises me.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Ditto.... I'll be happy once I've seen Last Exit, Whipping and Satan's Bed live as I was lucky enough to get all the other "normal" songs last year. I think the band coming on and jamming Aye Davanita before ripping into Last Exit or Go would be a killer intro....

The turntable my parents had didn't have a needle, so me and my brother used the deck to turn the album and fashioned a pin with a large paper horn to amplify the sound. Yes I know, very bad but we couldn't wait! Was greatful for the CD release...
i remember the shock of learning that they were putting out another record so quickly after vs. and making the midnight sale again. radio stations & mtv talking about the packaging & how the band were shouldering the cost for the artwork. the premeire of spin the back circle & tremor christ on the radio & then finally getting shitfaced stoned loading up the bong with my boys absorbing this wonderful masterpiece of art. it is arguably their best record. the tours that preceded & followed were also arguably the best of the 90's.(don't get me wrong-92 was primo as well)- they were pissed, focused & taking over the musical landscape. i was super shocked about dave a. being fired-read five against one for some insight into that issue....anyway-happy birthday vitalogy-you will be spun today on a turntable & a tape deck!

Got a pre-CD release copy of the LP the day it came out in stores, and I think i took it to school with me for the entire week to show off. Lol.
Also managed to get away with spinning it, rather loudly, through my parents sony record player, pretty much every night straight for a month.
ps. i remember hearing some college kid in a topless Jeep flying down the road, shortly after the album released, BLARING "bugs" as loud as he could. WTF?
I also got in trouble for spray painting the road in front of our school "spirit rock" with "pearl jam - vitalogy, the new album ... go buy it!" or some shit. lol. guerrilla marketing at its finest.
If I was to smile and I held out my hand
If I opened it now would you not understand?

It needed time to grow, but now it's a classic!
