Soundtrack LP in retail stores? PJ20

rhinomagicrhinomagic Charlottesville, VA Posts: 2,549
edited December 2011 in The Porch
Has there been a definitive word as to whether the 3-LP soundtrack will be sold by independent record stores?

And, if so, what date is the release?

Yes, December 13th. It depends on if they ordered them or not. My local store ordered 9 but sometimes get shut out. I would suggest calling around.

Does anyone know how much this should cost at a local record store? I just called mine and they said they will receive some, but it's going to cost $80? Is this an average price for indie record stores (I know 10C had it for $50) or do they all set their own prices?

$80 isnt bad. You could always buy one on eBay for $200 + . Sounds like you are getting a bargain.

So is a trade of one of these for a deluxe blu ray far fetched at this juncture? They seem to be about the same on ebay recently.

dvd will be available soon in one way or another... vinyl pressing is over...

dvd will decrease its price... vinyl has already got RVM vinyl status, and will get as high as benny...

i don't see going as high as benny.....

we don't know how many were pressed....we've heard 1500 tossed around, but we know one online place recieved 86 copies, and will best buy and barnes and noble involved...i gotta believe there are more the number is higher than 1500. it's all speculation tho on my part. but if it did go to benny levels, i would be more than happy.

i agree the dvd will fall. as people buy it, watch it, and sell it there will be less buyers demanding it...plus it will be all over the internet (already is i woudl guess)

one guy bought from diskopolis as well, he contact them and when he got an answer, then he told us here that diskopolis had ordered 120 copies from Sony... we can estimate the number, we have 86 from one place, 120 from another, we can estimate the number sold here, and since most websites are turning down orders, my guess is that the number of PJ vinyl is 5 thousand, no more, it could be less, my guess is that within 5 years this could sell as high as benny sells nowadays, of course, there are my two cents... and pretty far fetched to be honest, but this is a guessing game...

i think if you assume 5K will be circulated....and we know that only 2K benny's are out there...

it would stand to reason when you have 2.5 times more of something....the price will be lower....plus, IMO...even if the quantities were the same, i would guess benny woudl still be more desirable....

    well shall see

$80.00 is the price I was given at Magnolia here in Columbus...
Ordered mine there just by putting down a $15.00 deposit.
Not sure how much shipping was on top of the $50 buck 10 Club price...
bet it's not that big of a difference in the end!!!
PLUS with all of the HORROR stories I've seen with the Post Office actually folding vinyl to fit in mail boxes, and not knowing if 10 Club has any stock to replace damaged / defective orders,
I feel more comfortable picking mine up locally.
I don't mind paying a little bit extra to help support my local record store anyway,
I want to keep them in business as long as possible!!! :ugeek:

    Hello,

Sony Music keep changing/bumping the street date.

Please keep checking, or call your local Sunrise Records in your community to see if the album is in.

I didn't pull the trigger when Ten Club made it available, but I just talked to my local record store this morning. I was able to reserve one with them assuming they get their copies. They also told me somewhere around $80. I would definitely call your local record store before paying eBay money. If it doesn't work out, then you aren't in any worse shape. I don't think the auction sites are going to keep going higher.

i asked about it at my local indie store today and was told it isn't in their system yet. the guy said it probably wouldn't be entered until right before it's release. i pre-ordered from bestbuy.com (fingers crossed) but i'll also be calling the indie store on monday to see if it's in there and if i can hold a copy with a deposit.

if by some miracle i end up with 2 copies, i'd be happy to hook up somebody here at cost.
