Not even close. I was at both. Hartford 08 > Hamilton 11

Not saying it was as good or better..
Just a surprise choice of city where the band went apeshit on all the jams..
Ed and company pulled out all the stops..

Seems each tour the band picks one "lesser" lauded PJ stop (unlike the MSG , Toronto, Boston, Gorge, Chicago shows where we always expect amazing things)

The thing about Hartford 2008 and hamilton 2011 is the band opened up a can of "whoop ass" onstage when no one expected it.

No way. Hamilton blows the other away. Find me a better NFY & best Immortality since SP 95' Band in high spirits. Energy off the chart.

Its not suppose to be a comparison of the two as individual shows.

Its how both shows were "surprise" barn burners within that years tour of stops...

They are both high energy stellar performances which occurred after everyone had expected the best shows to be limited to the "famous" PJ cities..

Both these shows fit that description!

    Get it?

Habit sounds gnarly.....and the jam at the end of it kicks ass

I think I prefer Hartford but maybe cause that night was so unexpected

and the Immortality is better in Hartford

I was @ both show's & they were both amazing.

    It's funny, I did five PJ 2008 show's (MSG1, MSG2, Hartford, Mansfield1 & Mansfield2) and five PJ 2011 show's (Montreal, Toronto1, Toronto2, Ottawa & Hamilton).

Hartford was my favorite that year & Hamilton was my favorite this year.

I dunno about Toronto. I've never expected anything special there. While MSG, Boston, The Gorge, Chicago and Philly are all special, I've always thought of Toronto as being a place where fairly ordinary shows happen.

With shows like Hamilton and Hartford, these things just sort of fall into place. I think the band tries to play the lights out every night, but sometimes things just come together. Needless to say, Hamilton has been one of the better surprises this year. I'm glad I managed to get to this show.

This. 100% agree. The 2006 comparison is Grand Rapids (although Grand Rapids is one of the best shows in the past decade whereas Hartford and Hamilton aren't quite near the Grand Rapids level).

I was just waiting for someone to reach back and note Grand Rapids '06!! Just a completely unexpected, amazing night! And having just come off from Chicago? It's so great that sometimes things just gel and a random tour stop becomes an epic night with PJ. (Plus they played Satan's Bed that night for my friend and I. Can't beat the good vibes I get from that show!!)

Hamilton was a blast! My 21st show and the first time I'd heard Habit.

Brain of J was killer and I can't tell you how much I enjoyed Push Me Pull Me. :D

I wasn't at either show, but I will say, a lot of times, the big cities get all the hype. NYC, Boston, Philly, (Ok, really all East Coast shows) Chicago, Toronto, Seattle, etc... everyone thinks those will be the best shows, and I think what happens is, people lose sight of how great this band plays night in, night out. I have seen them in New York, seen them in Chicago, but if I was to list my favorite shows, those would be down towards the bottom of the 12 I have seen. So I don't think its surprising those shows were good, because these guys are good every night, and they don't only show up and bring it at the big city shows.
words seem so out of place.

The Hamilton show kicked ass, turned out to be way better then I thought it would be. I would love to see a show there again. Being in the old hockey arena was cool too.
