I've only heard two covers of that song that I like, Johnny Cash and Christy Moore. Leona Lewis should not be allowed anywhere near it. At least I don't listen to the radio so it's unlikely I'll hear it!

I've never heard of this Leona Lewis, or know how "blasphemous" this is since I'm not familiar with her sound or career, but I've kind of gotten over getting upset over covers. If I can survive Britney Spears covering The Rolling Stones "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction", Miley Cyrus covering "Smells Like Teen Spirit", Limp Bizkit covering "Behind Blue Eyes", and Avril Lavigne covering "Imagine", I can probably survive this person covering "Hurt". Seeing as how I've never heard of her before and she's completely off my radar, it stands to reason that I might actually never hear this song unless I actively search it out. Which I will not be doing.

I think this is a pretty good take on the song.

And I also have no idea who Leona Lewis is.

Yeah, I was going to point out that Ed covered it at his Santa Barbara solo gig earlier this year.

one of the worst was fred durst & johnny reznik (goo goo dolls) doing wish you were here at the 9/11 tribute. i'm real picky about the floyd.. the foo fighters did a brilliant have a cigar, though.

Yeah, there were some awful lyric changes in that Wish You Were Here. I think it would've actually been pretty good without that, especially for the performers.

Not a fan of Have a Cigar either. I think that's the worst way to do a cover. They took the took cool funky riff and turned it into generic power chord crapola. Not even Brian May could save it.

I thought The Shins did a fantastic version of Breathe on Fallon's Floyd week.

i think johnny cash made this song his own. the video was especially haunting. i got to see NIN do it live, that was killer. all the other "teenybopper" acts covering great rock songs- buy a clue. from what i've read, critics already take this person pretty seriously, so why? that's the only reason i can think that all of these crapola artists doing have for doing great songs- credibility-you're never gonna get it-to quote en vogue
oh yeah, and the foos doing hae a cigar, i saw live. dave jumped behind the kit & taylor came out & sang. it was a cool moment in the show. they done a surprise show on 4/20/00 at jmu in harrisonburg, va. i got a free ticket- just like the NIN show. there was a couple of us body surfing & the security tried to kick us out. dave went to the side of the stage where we were being held & told them that if we weren't allowed to go back to our seats he was going home. super cool guy.
