I have my collection of vinyl (mostly PJ) that I have never listened to. I think I am ready to buy a turn table, but the last one I had was made by Fisher Price. Any suggestions of what kind or type, all I need it to do is play, don't need a usb port or .... I have read that belt driven is better? and I have a stero and speakers so it has to have a "out" not one of those brief case models with its own speakers, dont want krap but also dont need state of the art laser... thanks for any suggestions. :?:

I have a low end Denon right now and it's actually pretty decent. Far from the greatest stylus in the world but the player itself is a pretty good bang for the buck.
There is NOTHING wrong with Technics and Numark tables, but unless you have the specific intention of being an actual DJ, there is a lot of functionality in (most of) those tables that you will not use, but still have to pay for.
Again, they can be GREAT tables for simply listening to tunes, but you may want to check out the (particularly, used) market to see what other "player" tables you can find that don't require you to spend several hundred dollars for DJ rated equipment that you do not need.
Just throwin' that out there.
That being said, even though i don't DJ, i would LOVE a PAIR of Technics 1200's
If I opened it now would you not understand?
The debut is an awesome turntable. I think they do another one down from that with the same cartridge.
The project turntables have won awards and such.
Have fun though as it's worth buying a decent player and not a cheap one, as you'll likely replace a cheap one real soon etc.
Sansui's
Thoren's
Dual's
Crazy how things come full circle (popularity of Vinyl), pushing the price of turntables up. It's hard to get some of these good models at a steal these days, especially down in Australia.
