I was thinking the same thing. I went there the day after the PJ show in cleveland a few years back and couldnt believe what I was seeing. There were some really cool things but Britney Spears outfits? N Sync shit? Come on man.
Put those others in a music hall of fame...but no Rush...just wow...Neil Peart is 1 of the top 3 drummers of alltime, Geddy and Alex are no slouch either.I have certain rules I live by ... My First Rule ... I don't believe anything the government tells me ... George Carlin

I don't like hip hop nor country nor generic pop music, but those belong in there just as much as any rock band. Keep in mind, that Elvis was once the king of rock, and by today's standards there's no way he'd be considered rock. it's just what it's called. I think basically anyone in music is eligible.
I don't know for sure that PJ will go in the first year they are eligible. Look how long it took pioneers like Black Sabbath to get nominated.
I don't understand their criteria other than the 25 years since your first release.Gimli 1993

I read an article about this recently. Music industry insiders who are part of the committee come up with nominations, which they have to defend and then are narrowed down (not sure how). Would be curious about how this works if anyone else has more info.2003: San Antonio, Houston, Dallas, Seattle; 2005: Monterrey; 2006: Chicago 1 & 2, Grand Rapids, Cleveland, Detroit; 2008: West Palm Beach, Tampa; 2009: Austin, LA 3 & 4, San Diego; 2010: Kansas City, St. Louis, Columbus, Indianapolis; 2011: PJ20 1 & 2; 2012: Missoula; 2013: Dallas, Oklahoma City, Seattle; 2014: Tulsa; 2016: Columbia, New York City 1 & 2; 2018: London, Seattle 1 & 2; 2021: Ohana; 2022: Oklahoma City0 -

In answer to the original question, yes I'd go if I could. There may be a lot of opinions about it, but even Patti Smith and Iggy Pop showed up when it was their turn to be inducted..... it's 'only' rock and roll! Go there and use it to be who you are (as Iggy certainly did
). PJ should do Blood or something like that - ie. they need to rock HARD and blast the roof off the place. R.i.p. Rigoberto Alpizar.

You gotta remember at the time Elvis was making music he was considered rock, at no time has rap, disco or any other genre that isn't rock was considered rock...as for Sabbath...Ozzy was publicly spouting off about the selection process, and I believe they did not get in till he stopped talking about it.
I'd sure like to know who in the selection process Rush or a member of Rush offended!!! Is Yes in yet? Asia? Moody Blues?I have certain rules I live by ... My First Rule ... I don't believe anything the government tells me ... George Carlin

As a long time Rush fan, I think it's great that they aren't included in the Rock n Roll Corporate Hall of "Fame". Futher confirms for me they didn't play by anyone else's rules i.e. tv/talkshow appearances, etc.. If PJ gets inducted I hope Eddie gets up there and tells them to shove their Hall where the sun don't shine and that their fans pay tribute to their accomplishments every time they take the stage. Sorry, but I don't need some group of elitists telling me who the important contributors to Rock and Roll are.

Pearl Jam will be there the first year they're eligible. They're a huge name who will become eligible at a time when there aren't a lot of other big name acts coming up for eligibility and hence will be big TV draw. Beyond that, Ed has ingratiated himself to the committee over the years by repeatedly showing up to induct whomever has asked him to in any given year. The RRHOF is every bit the joke that the Grammys are (bigger in my opinion, but whatever, to each his own), but Ed (and Pearl Jam by extension) has made all the right friends (and all the right moves) to be the next RRHOF darling, and as history has shown, it's as much about who you know as what you've done when it comes to being enshrined.
I defy anyone who studies the selection process and what goes into the actual ceremony and not walk away thinking the whole thing is a sham (not to mention what a joke the whole idea of a Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame is to start with). I cringed when Springsteen, The Clash, Prince, U2, and R.E.M. were all inducted, and I'll cringe when Pearl Jam is as well. I'll always appreciate the Sex Pistols refusal, though. Bless them...0 -
2012 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame class DOES NOT include: Heart, Steve Miller Band, Chicago, KISS, Stevie Ray Vaughan, The Guess Who, Rush, Journey, The Cars, The Moody Blues, Styx, Yes, ELO, Peter Frampton, Bad Company, Cheap Trick, MC5, Grand Funk Railroad and Boston. But it does have Laura Nyro & Donovan. REALLY?I have certain rules I live by ... My First Rule ... I don't believe anything the government tells me ... George Carlin
