In another thread I mentioned this item. I can't find the original article and I'm not familiar with this site, but the info is hear. I read elsewhere that there is resistance to this idea. Resistance to more green jobs? Why?

"President Barack Obama will be joined Friday by former President Bill Clinton to announce $4 billion in federal and private green building investments.
White House officials are touting the latest installment of Obama’s “Better Building Initiative” for both its energy efficiency and job benefits, explaining that it will pay for itself while avoiding the pitfalls that have drawn scrutiny from Capitol Hill and elsewhere with loan guarantees to Solyndra and other clean energy companies.
“These are triple-win initiatives,” Gene Sperling, director of Obama’s National Economic Council, told reporters on a conference call Thursday. “We believe that could be game changing for the cause of energy efficient buildings in the United States.”
Obama will be joined by Clinton during a Washington, D.C., event Friday to sign a memorandum for a minimum of a $2 billion commitment from federal agencies over the next 24 months. The money will go toward hiring contractors to perform energy efficiency and other green upgrades at federal facilities.
There also will be a $2 billion private-sector commitment, covering up to 1.6 billion square feet of commercial and independent property and involving roughly 300 manufacturing plants.
Jeff Zients, federal chief performance officer and deputy director for management at OMB, said the initiative won't have any cost to taxpayers and noted its differences from the Energy Department’s loan guarantee program at the center of a House investigation.
“The private sector takes all the risk here, so the federal government is not at risk for the investments,” Zients said, adding that the companies and government will be paid back through energy savings.
The contracts will be awarded based on the highest return in investment and the results will be publicly reported. “The bottom line is we will be keeping score and making sure we will have good implementation here,” Zients said.
The Obama administration estimates the program will create tens of thousands of jobs. Backing up its claims, the University of Massachusetts at Amherst’s Political Economy Research Institute on Friday will release statistics showing Obama's announcement could create more than 50,000 jobs.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce also says the federal component alone could create up to 35,000 jobs, Sperling said.
Clinton has taken a leading role in the building effort as part of his Clinton Global Initiative, specifically by mobilizing private sector investments.
About 60 business, labor and academic officials are scheduled to attend Obama’s announcement, including Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Tom Donohue and American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten, who will be representing the AFL-CIO."

Resistance is typical of those people who are purely frightened of change.

"Despite its size and density, the patch is not visible from satellite photography, since it consists primarily of suspended particulates in the upper water column. Since plastics break down to ever smaller polymers, concentrations of submerged particles are not visible from space, nor do they appear as a continuous debris field. Instead, the patch is defined as an area in which the mass of plastic debris in the upper water column is significantly higher than average."
I also wanted to change my statement about hell above. It just seems too negative and pessimistic. I think if we work hard, we can restore it to the heavenly place I imagine it once was. In fact, no matter what the odds, I'll never stop believing that we can restore the planet as a whole to a place of beauty. It only makes sense to pursue that goal.
