My father's died last year, and it's been a huge, painful loss in my life... "Release" , since then, had become very important in my life, 'cause it reflects, in words, this pain that never ceases... Lucky me: unexpectedly, the first song, at Morumbi Stadium, Sao Paulo, Brazil, that opened the South American's Pearl Jam Twenty Tour was RELEASE!... Noverber, 3rd is my birthday (day of the show) I was singing along but crying a lot at the same time, asking: "Oh, Dear Dad, can You see me now??????" A sad but unforgettble moment... (So many things alltogether). Touched my heart and marked it forever with Eddie's words...

Lost my father 3 years ago too... everytime I hear this track I just sing the lyrics powerfully, like Eddie, thinking of my dad, and it RELEASES my pain. Just a fantastic, moving song.

I am very sorry for your loss but happy that you had this amazing moment. Release has helped me release some of the pain since the loss of my father last year...the words are so powerful and strike so close to home. Pearl Jam's music is such a blessing in my life.

My dad died in 2002, and I had the same experience when I went to Australia in 2009. Opening show (for me) was in Adelaide, and they opened with Release.

My dad would have been so proud to see me in Oz. Amazing song. :thumbup:

I am feeling soooo good with all your posts, my friends... I've imagined that somehow, somewhere, someone would be going through the same things that I was, then I decided to write it down here...and it's been a very awesome experience! It's incredible to know that, at that particularly moment of the show, I was thinking "this voice is singing to me..."; but he wasn't: EV was doing it to himself and to us. Thank you!
