Yup. I think Amazon orders may have the same problem.
No, the record company reduced the allocated amount for every supplier later in the day

pretty sure they have already cancelled orders
They were told they had an amount allocated - and in the last week that amount was reduced considerably by the supplier

Will 10C get the same problem?

They decided to make it more limited after seeing them not selling out? They reduced the amount after the music retailers stuff had gone online, and while they still had items to be bought,

No, all 10C's orders will be fulfilled I believe. Many have shipped already

Not yet on mine...but I'm expecting it over waiting for them to ship... :(
I've yet to receive an email cancelling mine...I ordered a long time ago though.
I was just on the site and they are taking orders still...be pretty shitty to take orders after you know you won't be able to fulfill them, and then cancel them.

Guy from SoundStage called me personally to explain (which is pretty awesome). Apparently Sony just told retailers yesterday that supply was going to be SUPER restricted after initially telling them it would be unlimited. Seems even the retailers are a bit fed up at this point. Only winners are the ebay bastards. You can't tell me they didn't know demand would be this high, starting to smell like an intentional price gouge by someone.......Sony?
What's the point?
This.
My own theory is they want to cultivate the more rabid part of the fan base, so that if you want to get cool stuff you have to be on the ball, bang up to the minute, checking the boards regularly and ready at a stroke to give your money to 10C, or else risk paying 10 or more times the amount on ebay.
This might be for business reasons, it might be to stoke passion and enthusiasm amongst the fan base, it might be to make being an active member of the fan club more appealing and necessary.
Personally I think the approach is exploitative of the huge passion we have for the band - I feel like I'm being 'harvested'. I also feel it's maninpulative, and unkind on the average Pearl Jam fan. For these reasons I have been trying to resist this pull for quite a while, and not to jump through these hoops - but it is difficult - I want to be an active fan, I want to hear great music on vinyl - but I don't want my emotions to be manipulated for profit.......

Interesting theory, but I'd be willing to gamble that it's having the exact opposite effect.
it is likely, let's hope they won't...
