9 Reasons Wired Readers Should Wear Tinfoil Hats

There’s plenty of reason to be concerned Big Brother is watching.

We’re paranoid not because we have grandiose notions of our self-importance, but because the facts speak for themselves.

Here’s our short list of nine reasons that Wired readers ought to wear tinfoil hats, or at least, fight for their rights and consider ways to protect themselves with encryption and defensive digital technologies.

We know the list is incomplete, so if you have better reasons that we list here, put them in the comments and we’ll make a list based off them.

Until then, remember: Don’t suspect a friend; report him.

I think.. Most would be pretty bored with my life.. In fact, I invite the government to track me so I can drive them insane with boredom too.

But for those who live on the edge a little more.. This sucks.

I dont' see how anyone could be cool with the government spying on them... do you understand the ramifications of the police state?

I don't think we should be paranoid, I just think we should be careful with what we do and say on any electronic device. Because anything is possible and it's definitely impossible to be anonymous these days...

yeah ... i posted an article on the AET in the iPhone or Android thread about how all Android phones have been logging everything the user does and has been sending it to a server ... that is fucked ...

apparently iPhone doesn't do that ...

paranoia is a healthy and normal human instinct. when it arises you should listen to it... your brain is sending you a symbol that something dangerous is about to happen. Understand it and act on paranoia... don't dwell on it.

in my case, that means being a luddite. :D

I have more concerns about what google are doing with their information, than with any state. If any state went out of their way to collect and store as much personal information on individuals as google do, people would be seriously worried. I was loading up their maps software on my phone the other day, and it was asking for access to the 'private information' element of the phone, which includes loads of shit - including all call records. I seriously can't understand why more people aren't questioning their practices.

Edit - sorry I missed this post first time of looking - a case in point. They are shameless
