Make a mix tape for a forum member....

Ok, here's my idea. I used to do mix tapes for traveling or for friends to introduce them to new music and have discovered bands the same way. Somebody posts a reply to say they are in and then PM's me their postal address and I post mine to them. Each time someone new comes in they trade a mixtape (cd of course) with the poster above them in the thread. You can make it anything you want, compilations of single or multiple artists. We're all friends here, lets see how much we can discover about each others tastes and who knows, you may even discover your next favourite band? Maybe you can go back and edit your post and list what you recieved and whether you got something you liked? Who's game? ;)

    Good idea but, in a way, you've already put it into action IMHO :idea: . Case in point: the excellent thread you created about ten albums that are moving you at the moment (viewtopic.php?f=9&t=174141). That to me is a mix tape in itself. It's a hoot to check back to that thread to see what albums folks are listing. It's like a reading a family tree for each of our musical tastes. There's, of course, the common denominator of PJ, but a whole lot of other good stuff, and a different good for each of us, that helps inform why we arrived at Pearl Jam. Thanks for spreading the love for good music!

    It sounds great! Maybe make some rules - like new music or whatever. Or just whatever you feel like putting on there.

    I too have kind of been dong this from the '10 albums you're listening to atm' thread. Have been making a list of albums to get from things I notice that come up frequently on there or that I've wondered about & then if it's listed on there a few times it must be good! ;) Digital sharing of 'mix tapes' might be good too.
