Patrice O'Neal died today, of a stroke. He was diabetic and sick for a while. But he's funny as shit! I wasn't a huge fan, but I appreciated his talent. I'm watching his stand-up special "Elephant in The Room" on Netflix Instant Watch right now, and I'm sorry I missed out on his variety of comedy. This man was a great talent, and I hope people come to appreciate his ability in the future. Like Mitch Hedberg, I think we lost a true talent way too early. I hope everyone takes some time to appreciate his amazing talent. I have tears of joy rolling down my face watching this show. Bringing joy and happiness to the world is such a gift, Patrice O'Neal is a true treasure! R.I.P. my friend!

I've never seen his stand ups, but I would see him on those VH1 "I Love the..." series and he would crack me up. Also, he was on "The Office" and I couldn't stop laughing when he yelled at Michael for, I think, knocking down all the shelves in the warehouse with the forklift.

  • I saw him get nailed time and again with jokes about his weight and impending death from diabetes and shit on the Charlie Sheen roast. And he was legitimately angry about it and said so at the podium when it was finally his turn. I hope those fuckers feel like shit today.

Here's a great clip from Elephant in the Room:

Opie & Anthony tomorrow will be a tribute, with pretty much all of his comic friends coming through to share stories. If you get Sirius/XM, it will definitely be worth tuning in. XM 105, Sirius 206
  • I don't think he was really upset at the jokes. His response when it was his turn was just his style and it was hilarious. He was friends with some of those people. In fact, Amy Shumer was one of the comedians in the studio today on Opie and Anthony to talk about him.

he was just on the Mohr Stories podcast a few weeks ago. really in depth interview. check it out.
This show, another show, a show here and a show there.
  • I'm pretty sure that's the last interview he did. It was just a few days before his stroke. I'm going to check it out when I get home today.

I'm sure a few of you are familiar with "Unmasked", if not, It's Ron Benninton sitting down with a comedian and just talking... There is a really good one with Patrice.

Man do I miss that show. There's a bunch of clips on YouTube, but the quality is all over the place. I would shell out for the entire run of the show in a heartbeat; used to have a bunch of episodes stockpiled on my old TiVo. It was only on a couple seasons...someone needs to make this happen.
