It's a nice dvd music wise, but the crowds SUCK!

If they do another one they should have songs from europe, argentina etc on it.. american crowds don't know how to rock out.. sorry to say

As a southamerican, got to say two things.

1- Live dvds will look more with more involved crowds.
2- It has nothing to be the grade of crowd involvement to the "big fan" a crowd could be.

You can't compare the crowd at a GA show to a show with assigned seats. Its apples and oranges.

I know..I just think that for a DVD where the visual is also a part of the package, it looks better when the crowd is going nuts.. maybe you guys do that a festivals and such.. It just always bums me out to see the crowds on the TB2000 dvd.. it's certainly not the DVD I would put on to show a friend what the whole PJ experience is like..

Look at everyone in the front section, just standing there and smiling, barely moving. From the middle back is where you see some jumping. MSG rocks way harder than that and it's assigned seating.

Live at the Garden looks a whole lot better than TB.. I'll give you that.. but to me the Cornice DVD is the best looking release in every single way

It is different, but when I went to Seattle to see the boys in their home town I was expecting a great crowd, but it was sad, the people's reaction was like they see PJ once a month, I expected much more love from Seattle... but talking about orange to apples, NY is great, people sings and make the MSG explode with excitement and you can feel the electricity in the air.

SO i would say, next live DVD should be from a EU or a SA tour.

I'd have to agree with you on that. I've always wanted to see a show in Europe so I'm not one of a select part of the crowd rocking his face off at a PJ show. Americans are too caught up in self image and what people think to rock out as hard as the Europeans. There's no other explanation.

I was jumping up and down throughout the LA 4 show, and the people next to me were just taking pictures the entire time and looked at me like I was weird. With that said, there are some shows where I just stand there and take everything in..sometimes closing my eyes and just focusing on the music, others where I sing as loud as I can, others where I'm quiet, and some where I'm jumping and singing like crazy. I guess my point is..there are a lot of ways to enjoy concerts...Jumping up and down the entire time and singing is not the only way. ;)

  • I am Argentinian, in the 2005 shows, I jumped and sang to the top of my voice every song (I mean, I didn't jump in Black, for instance), last show, I only sang, I'm done with jumping...

Temporarily rerouting this thread to get it back on track!

I am FOR this!! A DVD of more live performances, please.

I wouldn't mind at all if they included several songs from each leg over the course multiple tours, since some of them have been abbreviated of late.

Wonder why there was no DVD from the Backspacer tour, maybe they were concentrating on PJ20. I am sure there is plenty of footage but that seem redundant now that Backspacer is over 2 years gone now.

touring band 2000 is their best dvd.
what pearl jam needs to do is stop releasing new shit every month, stop touring, and just take some time off from each other so they can get an album going in the new year. what happened to the pearl jam that released a new album every two years or so?
  • you really want them to stop touring?
The live performance is such a huge part of who they are

Have a look at Given To Fly and you'll see me jumping around in the 2nd row. You know, being a lame PJ concert attendee and all.

Re: the supposed subdued crowd activity on TB2K, not to be a Debbie Downer or anything but that year was the Roskilde tragedy. That probably had everything to do with the assigned seating and the band outright *not* wanting crowds to get rowdy.
