UPS Tracking

Hi, i hope someone from the USA can help me here. I have got a UPS tracking number from a seller for a delivery to ireland. When entered, the message below appears.

The U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified by the shipper on November 22, 2011 to expect your package for mailing. This does not indicate receipt by the USPS or the actual mailing date. Delivery status information will be provided if / when available. Please be advised tracking is not available for this product. Information, if available, is updated periodically throughout the day. Please check again later.

What does this mean? Has the item been shipped or if it has not, how can someone provide a tracking number with out actually shipping an item? I cant seem to find a way to contact UPS to ask them directly.

I dont want to contact the seller, just yet incase im jumping the gun.

That just means USPS hasn't picked it up yet or their system hasn't updated yet.. They usually update once every 24 hours.

Thanks for your reply, i got the number on friday 25th. Should be on by now. Could i have been scammed?

Don't forget that we had a holiday here in the states last week, so that will delay it a bit. That message basically means that the seller has contacted USPS about picking up a package to be shipped... I'd say you're safe.

EDIT:... Since it's through USPS you probably wont get an update until it reaches Ireland.

I bought something from person in Australia- he said the same thing- I got nervous..it arrived a day later. It gets delivered before USPS or UPS updates international packages.

I hope so, cause it was a sealed Beraroya hall on Vinyl
