just as I have three sons and there is no way any could be my favorite, so it goes for bands, there are many that I enjoy a lot, but I have no reason to declare any of them my favorite, for me it's not a competition

I honestly can't answer this question. There are so many bands I love. It used to be Pearl Jam, by a huge margin. But, in recent years... I have begun to give them less attention. I still love them dearly, but I'm in no way close to being as "obsessed" with Pearl Jam as I was even 2 years ago. I found myself limiting my taste and listening to way too much PJ and not enough of anything else... so I forced myself to branch out. I of course still put on some PJ every now and then...
At this time though, it comes down to The Replacements & Ryan Adams (and everything he has done)
I still love you Pearl Jam.
Same. I'd still consider them my favorite band but for different reasons now. 2 years ago they were my favorite band simply because I thought they wrote the best music of any band. Now they're my favorite band because they simply stood the test of time with me. Even though I don't listen to them nearly as much, I still get a big rush when I decide to. I don't necessarily think they're the "best" anymore in that typical aspect... they're just a band that I have always loved and are in a special place to me.
Theres just toooo much music out there to limit myself to only PJ bootlegs. I listen to so much different music now and I love it... a shitload of indie music, (electronic, rock, combination of the two, "chillwave", etc) some dub step, more classic rock than I used to listen to, some rap every once in a blue moon, and what other sub genres exist.

You summed this up very well. I love Pearl Jam for basically the exact same reasons. I also love PJ because they changed me as a music listener and as a person. I owe them a lot of respect for that, and that is why I will always love Pearl Jam, even if I do neglect listening to them for a while, my appreciation and adoration for them will always be in my heart.

"What can you expect when you're on top? You know? It's like Napoleon. When he was the king, you know, people were just constantly trying to conquer him, you know, in the Roman Empire. So, it's history repeating itself all over again."
The Black Crowes are amongst my favorite bands as well. It always helps when the band is awesome live.

+1 Simply amazing. One of the most overlooked bands of the 90s and really all time. Takes a great band to cover so much musical ground, yet have it come out so naturally while maintaining a signature sound.
i'd say PJ is a given but for the last few years there are 2 bands that i've been obsessed with are Black Mountain and Sleepy Sun. I hope they stay together for a long time because they make amazing music.
