Saw Social Distortion again last night in town. Another fantastic show by them. Ness with switching between his gold top and cherry burst pauls (I believe that's the name of that color), through his typical modded Bassmans through 4x10 Marshall cabinets, god his tone is just ridiculous. Johnny Two Bags wasn't the easiest to see all night, but whenever I could see him he only was playing a les paul junior with a single P-90, although I'm sure he had his old Tele out there here and there. His Satellites always sound great as well. Those two have a great mix together tone wise, and seem to just gel.

That's one band that I wish was around my parts of the country more. The negative part is dealing with the small club show, but as soon as they come on it's just on and in your face...

Something tells me in a hour or so I'm going to have a 5 watt amp cranked and a my DC with the single P-90 playing some open chords.

    I only got to see them once years ago before I was really into them. I need to pay attention for the next time they come around.

    Awesome! I've been hoping they'll make it back to Minneapolis soon, but it's not looking good. I was bummed when I learned I missed them here a little over a year ago. I haven't seen them live in years and have a new rekindled love for their music. Anyway, glad you enjoyed the S.D. show!

    The only amp I have at home right now (rest is at the studio) is a modified Gretsch 5222 (It's a Champ 600, in a Gretsch logo). Has a weber speaker (alnico) in it, Different transformer, bypass switch on the negative feedback loop and minor circuit changes similar to mods to normal valve junior circuits. Its not as aggressive as what I've done to the valve junior, but it gets the job done.
