So i just purchased tix to Prince's AfterJam here in Toronto. A question for the Prince experts. Does Prince always perform at the AfterJam party? The description says perfromances by some other artists but is labled as Prince and NPG official AfterJam. Also, Maceo Parker was just announced as part of the tour so I imagine there will be some pretty funky jams going on.

I went to something along these lines a looooong time ago so things have likely changed, but essentially some members of Prince's band showed up, had a few drinks in a sequestered area of the bar and then left. It was a complete sham. However, with Prince, ya never know. Either way, if someone from Prince's party shows up and plays (whether it's someone from NPG or otherwise), they will sho nuff bring da funk!!!

Okay, so here's how it went down.
Purchased tix to Prince afterjam for Saturday as I was already going to the main show on Friday.

Friday - I went to the Prince concert. It was a great show. Prince played for 3 hours 15 minutes (The longest PJ show I've been to was 2 hours 50 minutes). A couple buddies talked me into going to the Friday afterjam. I got there at about 2:30am and just missed Prince. Appearently he played guitar for 5 minutes and then left.

Saturday - Went to the Maceo Parker PeeWee Ellis JB tribute show (super funky). Then it was off to the Prince afterjam. The afterjam was held in a small restaurant that seated about 50 but there were at least 250 packed in for the jam. At about 1:00 am Jully Black took the stage. Then Devine Brown with Maceo jamming. Then this voice came over the speakers saying "NPG in da house". It took a few minutes for me to realize that it was Prince. NPG took the stage with Maceo and Prince called out "Pass the pees, Pass the pees" and all funky hell broke out. Prince stood to the left of the stage and sang, called out, and conducted the band. Some of the funkiest shit I've ever seen or heard. 8-)
