What the Roots/Fallon did to Michelle Bachman was classless

Total bs what they did to her

for those who don't know, she was a guest on Jimmy Fallon and the roots played Phish's "Lyin Ass Bitch" as she walked in. If it was Michelle O or Hillary, all hell would be breaking loose and people would be calling for their firing. The double standard in this country infuriates me.

For Jimmy to say he did not know...I don't buy it at all

I think this is a great move. How is this a double standard? Ask the Roots what song they would play for Hillary. I'd like to share a link for it since its so great. Oh and its Fishbone not Phish.

I personally didn't see the show but i agree that if they did that then is was rude and classless.

how is that a great move? so they ask her to be on their show and call her names which some people find rude? i think we have to be honest and state that there would be no way that they would play that song for female democrats

The Roots play instrumental music and dont sing (on Fallon) so they didnt call her anything. You interpret this how you want. The Roots wouldnt play this for female democrats nor would Pearl Jam. Other bands might.

anyways I didnt watch the video, but I approve.

how can one of you say a band sang one of their songs called, "lyin ass bitch" as michelle bachman walks in while another one of you say they don't sing and only do instrumentals so it didn't happen?

  • Classless. Agreed.

No need to treat a lady that way, no matter what her views.

And now come the childish comments about the word lady...

lady more like shady....wait...lady, I didn't realize Michelle's husband was there...I am kidding by the way...

I would say to anyone who is offended don't watch Fallon. Oh and also, why get offended? I have seen and heard much worse on many other stations...she earned it by embellishing so many "facts"...I am partial though, I think conservatives like her make us all seem unreasonable.

who knew what they were playing? i mean fishbone? i am willing to bet that about 2% of fallon's audience even knows who fishbone is, let alone recognize that song. to the band it was a clever joke, and i am one that can appreciate a clever joke.

if they did not sing the lyrics it is hard to prove what they were playing. a lot of music can sound the same.

the comparison of bachmann to mrs obama is apples to oranges. one is married to the president, and as a result is due some level of respect. the other one is a crazy senator running for a nomination that she has zero chance of winning and who has been caught in many many lies on the campaign trail. the only reason she was even on the show is to pimp her struggling candidacy. as far as i know, michelle obama has not been caught in any lies and the only reason people are upset with her is because she is on a campaign to get kids to eat healthy and exercise in an effort to prevent childhood obesity and diabetes (GASP...that freedom stealing socialist...)

if you guys are upset, the best thing you can do is not watch fallon and not buy records by the roots, and boycott the advertisers on that show... i doubt you will get a sincere apology from ?usetlove, as any fan of his knows his position on a lot of issues.. besides, i would be willing to believe that the roots have more fans than michelle bachmann.

Yeah, it's a cheap shot, why even have her on if that's how Jimmy feels. It's like starting a fight with a drunk person. But that's the entertainment industry, dump on conservatives whenever possible for a cheap laugh, it may be true but is getting old.

    A couple of observations...
    1. Americans are becoming very classless towards politicians. Why is that? Is it because politicians are douchebags?
    2. Americans get 'offended' by America's classless attitude towards politicians. Why is that? Is it because politicians are NOT douchebags?
    ...
Basically... what i'm saying is 'WHAT THE FUCK'? We say politicians are fucking assholes and give them a 9% approval rating... call them crooks... liars... suck faces... THEN... get fucking 'offended' when someone disrespects them?

    Why THE FUCK is that?!?!?

  • This is pretty funny to me. Is it really all that surprising when a comedy show takes a cheap shot at an easy target? Bachman's advisers probably need to be doing a better job screening where she does her interviews. If you're swinging as far right as she is, Fox and friends is probably the only place you want to be making an appearance. Her people should have seen this coming.

Republicans like to pretend they have some sort of moral high ground. Therefore they play the victim card at every opportunity, in between insulting the unemployed, Democrats, Muslims, gays, the President, e.t.c.

i agree with you but i think that just like we do when the Republicans insult other groups we must do the same when someone insults someone we don't agree with we.

I am not offended by it, I find it a poor way to treat a person you deem as a guest on your show. I find it unprofessional, and classless on the Roots part, "accidental" or not. It has no correlation to her being a politician. I would say the same thing for any woman who walked out.

It does not matter if you like MB or not, her politics or not, it is flat out a low-class move to insult her.

Eh...great....more kneejerk fodder for the 24 hour news channels to rehash. Always happy to see more distractions piled on the heap that are easy to get outraged about. Economic policy and foreign policy make my brain hurt. Thanks, Roots.

  • After seeing them live this summer, I'm confident to say that The Roots are one of the greatest live bands on the planet.
