Posters selling out. For sale/trade minutes later.
People selling things for way above the original price.
Trades are becoming ridic

I think the Lost Dogs trade forum is amazing and members have bartered away on various items, but is some control needed? I don't know. I really think this new and promising forum may need some admins. Any thoughts?

Dude, if I told you how much it cost me in the last 3 years to see PJ in 7 countries you would shit yourself. I'm just talking about how fair is the Lost Dogs trade forum.

I agree, They especially need to keep this trading and selling crap from creeping into other forums AND threads. To each their own but I'm jack of it, It's almost like some people on here are trying to make a living from limited edition merch.
Keep it in LOST DOGS and I'll keep out of LOST DOGS

i think this forum polices itself just fine... it already has admins and they step in where the rules are violated... if something/someone is violating the rules then you should feel free to report it - it will then be shut down

but you disagreeing with the rules is another issue

personally i think it's just sour grapes from people who got shut out of something

i see your point about posters being put up for trade immediately after purchase and before having it in hand... that is a little crazy... but what can you do? put a 6 month? 1 year? 2 year ban on items before they can be traded?

people have been buying for trade bait for years - this is just a more organized place for them to sling their goods

if a trade happens... then it's not ridiculous

people have different wants and desires ... sometimes you find a perfect match

someone once had my holy grail and i had a new hot poster... we made a deal happen even though "values" were much different

i think people need to temper their view of this "one big happy jamily" with a little dose of reality

and what is your proposed solution to make it fair?

Im pretty new to this forum but I do wonder why some people can start multiple threads with no prices and nothing is said, and others get called out immediately for similar or lesser things. It seems to be a pretty inconsistent environment in here. I dont know, I dont really get it at times.

Point well taken. I didn't start the OP to bash trades, just want to hear some reactions.

some people read the rules... some dont

    some people care... some don't

some people report things to the mods... some dont

if it's not reported then it could fly under the mods radar... they can't spend their time inspecting every thread

it may be inconsistent... but i'd say this forum has done much more good than harm...

and i for one am glad that the 10c listened to the fans and created this place

as i said to the eddiec - i'm sure the mods would love to hear some ideas on how to improve things

actually i don't know that they'd love it... but suggesting solutions is a whole lot more productive than slinging mud and complaining about the way things are

Is being an Admin a payed position?

Im not complaining, those were just my thoughts. I think ive made like 5 or 6 trades and everything was smooth, everyone ive dealt with has been cool. It just seems like some threads are a little more "auction style" if you know what I mean. Those of us who dont want to make those kind of deals dont have to.

I personally have never traded on lost dogs, but have been tempted to several times(and most likely will in the future). I think having an admin to decide what trades are "fair" leaves us fans at a loss, as long as both traders are happy its a good trade/ buy. Am i wrong?

sorry if i misunderstood your intent... guess i automatically think bitching when people start questioning things

but... nothing wrong with us all sharing our thoughts

i do know what you mean... people skirt the rules... it doesn't bother me enough to report it but sometimes i ask the person why they think they're above the law

then cartman comes to the rescue ;)

Listen, that was my intention for this whole thing. Never meant to fall into the 'mudslinging category'. Just wanted some peoples' answers as to why this forum has gotten a bit outta control. And it has a bit. I've never reported anyone and I don't intend to.

Solution?? Don't know just yet. Just don't want to see people ripped off like they are on ebay.

the only people who should be involved in the process are the traders

they're the ones who decide what works and what doesn't

otherwise it would be a mess... what would be used for "market value"?? ebay?

if that was the case I never would have gotten my holy grail

more admins is an awful idea

No no no... I'm not talking about deciding which trades are fair. I just want to see all of the ebay links taken down really. The Forum is not for that in my opinion. I think you need to do your homework (or ask around) to learn the value of what you are trading and if you think what the person is trading you is fair. What is "fair" is different for everyone of course...

who says it's out of control? that's just your opinion... there are many trades and transactions happening on here weekly ... and i haven't seen one thread where someone is posting that they got ripped off??

as for your accusation that people get ripped off on ebay? what do you mean?

last time i checked no one is forced to buy things on ebay. and people actually pick the price they want to pay for things. that sounds a lot like not being ripped off.

it's called reality ... sure we'd all love to have a backpack and deluxe bluray and benny vinyl in our hands right now... but the band has decided to make these things in limited quantity... therefore they sell out quick, their value goes way up and people are then tempted to sell for a large profit

if you want to say that it sucks for people with no money the way things end up on ebay at high prices... well then yes i would agree... it sucks to be broke

but no one is getting ripped off... unless we're talking someone not getting what they paid for

I agree with you on this 100%. The value of an item to one person is different to the next. Poster/Vinyl trade is a clear indicator. But lately there has been a lot of FS xxx$$$

as for asking around to learn value... i don't fully agree

some people don't care about doing homework... they want what they want and truly don't care about prices on ebay

if someone has a poster from 1996 that they no longer want... yet they really want 2 bottles of beer... then they can make that trade if they want to

yes from the outside it seems they're getting ripped off (maybe this is what you meant eddiec?) ... but who are we to determine what is best for them?

i have no problem with people selling stuff for straight up cash

if they price it too high... it won't sell

if they price it too low it will go quickly and then have 142 other people yelling about value ;)

i think it's nice that 10c members have this option instead of ebay... and i guess i really have no problem with ebay... besides their ridiculous fees

but what are you going to do when they've got such a monopoly

why people get banned in other forum for lets say they attacking eachother?cos its against the rules, right?
so,posting ebay links, buy a white backspacer and sell it here for 150$ in a week sell items with out prices and accept pm and make this action ,isnt against the rules?

The only thing I find unfair and really annoying is that for every backpack, white BS or PJ20 deluxe etc that is traded here almost immediately after they sell out means someone missed out on purchasing it at a sensible price. Some fans here are avid collectors and don't buy goods just because they want to trade it for something else. It's not illegal, it's not against the rules, it's just plain selfish and there's nothing anyone can do about it. Don't open the thread if it offends you. To me saying what do have to trade for a backpack when you know how much it would fetch on ebay is basically starting an auction and doesn't feel like like the spirit that is strong in this community. Ain't no use crying about it though because nobody here is going to dry your tears.

Would anyone sell a Benny LP on here for $35? Not a chance.

If someone wants to trade an LP for a bottle of beer, go ahead. More fool them.

I think everyone themselves know their limits. If someone puts a bootleg on here for $50 I won't pay it. Unfortunately it does seem to have gone a bit crazy but there a fair trades/sales on here too. You just have to find them. I think its the minority that are looking to flip items on here.

But at the end of the day it's upto the buyer to determine the price and market value. If someone is daft enough to pay $200 on a backpack, dvd, Vault cd, etc - can the seller really be blamed?

It's not when you consider that items are originally of equivalent value. So a lost dogs vinyl being traded for a klausen reaper is actually a fair deal.

It's when people have something like said vinyl and they want multiple items for it, that's when it gets screwy.
But it's up to the owner really.
