I'm taking a 9 hour drive tomorrow..(and 9 hours back on Monday). What are some albums that you think I should listen to...can be old, new, well known, not well known, etc... Also, while I enjoy mellow music I don't want it to be too mellow as I am leaving at 3 AM and don't want to fall asleep. What are your favorite road trip albums?

  • Born to Run - Bruce Springsteen.

I drove from Anchorage, Alaska to Vancouver, BC in 1986...and I think over the course of that trip I listened to that casette tape approximately 4,000 times.

I had other cassettes in the car, mind you. But when you start with the best, it's tough to leave it for anything less.

Thanks everyone! Lots of great recommendations on here...great mix of stuff I've heard and new stuff. I've never heard of Dinosaur Jr. so I'll be sure to check it out. Also gives me a good excuse to finally give FOMO a listen. I plan on listening to Petty's Wildflowers as the sun is rising 8-)

It's a more country sound, but it just feels right when you're roadtrippin'

I can't do a road trip without the Weezer blue album. Oh and anything from Pink Floyd...I prefer Animals but any one of them will do really!
