yeesh.
i know she's unpopular in the extreme, and certainly her statement of "support" for the UCD Police immediately following the incident was inappropriate (though born out of ignorance, having not seen video) ... but I feel sorry for this lady. I'm sure she understands just how "on the wrong side" she inadvertently fell, and it seems clear to me that her sympathies in the situation lie with the protesters at this point. It is a shame that she will probably be forever lumped in the same category as Lt. John Pike, because I think on the whole she probably meant well.
Getting to the video: the silence is both eerie, and inspirational. Bizarre.
Thoughts?

$630 goes to the 21 students that were suing, so about $30K for getting pepper sprayed.
For a resident undergrad, that will cover two years of school tuition. For a non-resident, they will still need to borrow another $8K just to cover one year.

A former University of California-Davis police officer made famous after being filmed pepper-spraying seated activists during a Nov. 2011 protest has been awarded a $38,059 workers' compensation settlement, The Guardian reports.
John Pike, a 40-year-old former lieutenant on the university police force, claimed he suffered from depression and anxiety after receiving death threats following the incident.
A judge approved the settlement between Pike and the university on Oct. 16, according to KCRA.
He got more then each student got!!! Unions ... ya gotta love 'em!
